2–3-inch toothpick FPV motor
Xnova T1404
Xnova's T-mount 1404 for toothpicks, 10 g; the 3800KV pulls 286 g on a Gemfan 3016 at 14.8 V in Xnova's test.
- Toothpicks on 3-inch props, as Xnova tested it
- 5–6S (2700KV), 3–4S (3800KV) or 3S (4700KV)
- T-mount props
The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 1404 motor drawn from Xnova’s published sizes, not its exact design. Thrust, current and power are Xnova’s bench figures for the GF3016 prop at 14.8 V, read straight across between its throttle steps. Its data starts at 50% throttle.

What it pulls
Xnova’s own bench test, one line per prop. Drag across the chart to move the throttle; the model above follows.
At 60% with the GF3016: 175 g of thrust, 5.1 A, 75 W, 2.32 g per watt.
On your quad
1.8 : 1
Thrust to weight at full throttle: four motors pull 1,144 g with the GF3016 at 14.8 V.
At 60% throttle they pull 700 g, 1.1 times the quad’s weight.
All-up weight is the quad ready to fly, with its battery and camera. The thrust is the maker’s static bench figure; in the air it is lower.

Bench data

Inside the motor
A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:
- Bell. Black, with a red ring round the top of the bell and a red four-spoke top. (Xnova drawing, Xnova product photo)
- Shaft. 1.5 mm, standing 3.8 mm above the bell; props bolt to four M2 holes on a 5 mm circle around it (T-mount). (Xnova drawing)
- Base. 2.2 mm thick, with four M2 holes, opposite holes 9 mm apart. (Xnova drawing)
- Leads. 15.5 cm. (Xnova 3800KV sheet)
How fast it spins
KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 3800KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.
| Battery | Volts | No-load rpm (KV × V) | Electrical frequency | ESC steps per second |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4S nominal | 14.8 | 56,240 | 6,561 Hz | 39,368 |
| 4S full | 16.8 | 63,840 | 7,448 Hz | 44,688 |
| 6S nominal | 22.2 | 84,360 | 9,842 Hz | 59,052 |
| 6S full | 25.2 | 95,760 | 11,172 Hz | 67,032 |
A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.
About the 3D model
A generic outrunner drawn from Xnova’s published sizes: the 14 × 4 mm stator, 18.6 mm bell, 12.8 mm height, 1.5 mm shaft and 9 mm mounting circle. Anything Xnova doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
