5- to 6-inch FPV racing motor
Xnova Supersonic 2206
Xnova's 36 g 2206 Supersonic racing motor for 3–4S, 12N14P with a bolt-on M5 prop adapter; the 2300KV pulls 920 g on a GemFan 5 × 4.5 on 4S in Xnova's test.
- 5-inch racing (2300KV, 2500KV) and 6-inch props (2000KV)
- 3S–4S

The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 2206 motor drawn from Xnova’s published sizes, not its exact design. Thrust, current and power are Xnova’s bench figures for the GemFan 5*4.5 prop at 16.8 V, read straight across between its throttle steps. Its data starts at 10% throttle.
- Max thrust
- 920 g
- GemFan 5*4.5 prop, 16.8 V
- Weight
- 36 g
- the same for all three KVs
- Peak current
- 22.2 A
- full throttle
- Max power
- 373 W

What it pulls
Xnova’s own bench test, one line per prop. Drag across the chart to move the throttle; the model above follows.
At 60% with the GemFan 5*4.5: 630 g of thrust, 13.8 A, 232 W, 2.72 g per watt.
On your quad
5.7 : 1
Thrust to weight at full throttle: four motors pull 3,680 g with the GemFan 5*4.5 at 16.8 V.
At 60% throttle they pull 2,520 g, 3.9 times the quad’s weight.
All-up weight is the quad ready to fly, with its battery and camera. The thrust is the maker’s static bench figure; in the air it is lower.

Bench data
Redrawn from Xnova’s test reports. Thrust is static pull on a bench, more than you get in flight. Power is volts × amps; efficiency is thrust divided by power.

Inside the motor
A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:
- Bell. A red top over a black band. (Xnova product photo)
- Shaft. 3 mm, with an M5 prop adapter (16 mm flange, 2.2 mm thick, 10 mm of thread) bolted to the top with four M2 screws on a 9 mm circle. (Xnova drawing)
- Base. Four M3 holes in the 16 × 19 pattern. (Xnova drawing)
- Winding. Hand-wound. (Xnova product page)
How fast it spins
KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 2300KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.
| Battery | Volts | No-load rpm (KV × V) | Electrical frequency | ESC steps per second |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4S nominal | 14.8 | 34,040 | 3,971 Hz | 23,828 |
| 4S full | 16.8 | 38,640 | 4,508 Hz | 27,048 |
| 6S nominal | 22.2 | 51,060 | 5,957 Hz | 35,742 |
| 6S full | 25.2 | 57,960 | 6,762 Hz | 40,572 |
A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.
About the 3D model
A generic outrunner drawn from Xnova’s published sizes: the 22 × 6 mm stator, 28 mm bell, 20.5 mm height, 3 mm shaft and 12 teeth and 14 magnets. Anything Xnova doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
