Lightweight 5-inch freestyle motor
Ummagawd Aerolite 2004
A 15.2 g motor for lightweight 5-inch freestyle quads: a 20 × 4 mm stator, a 3 mm shaft on oversized 8 × 4 × 3 mm bearings, T-mount props, and 891 g of thrust at 9 A on 22.2 V in Ummagawd's 1600KV test.
- Lightweight 5-inch freestyle, about 300 g all-up
- 6S (1600KV, 1700KV) or 4S (2400KV, 2450KV)
- Ummagawd 2Fiddy and Grinderino frames
The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 2004 motor drawn from Ummagawd’s published sizes, not its exact design. No-load speed is KV × 22.2 V, a nominal pack for this version. Ummagawd publishes no bench data for it.

What you get for $25.95
3 mm shaft, oversized bearings
Ummagawd uses a 3 mm shaft inside the motor on custom 8 × 4 × 3 mm bearings, with a short 1.5 mm prop shaft.

Built light
A two-screw mount, a slotted bell, titanium prop bolts and ribbon wires; the sheets list 15.2 g.
Bench data at two voltages
The 1600KV pulls 891 g at 9 A on 22.2 V with a GF5125R; the 2400KV pulls 1015 g at 15.5 A on 18.5 V.
Made for 300 g quads
Ummagawd designed it for lightweight 5-inch freestyle quads of about 300 g all-up, with its 2Fiddy and Grinderino frames.

What to pair it with
Our reading of Ummagawd’s numbers, so your build matches what the motor was tested with.
- Props
- Ummagawd recommends HQ 5×3 two-blades for smoothness and flight time, or HQ 5×2×3 for a locked-in feel; T-mount props bolt on with the supplied titanium bolts. (Ummagawd 1700KV page)
- Battery
- 6S for the 1600KV/1700KV (Ummagawd quotes 5–6 minutes on a 6S 450 mAh pack with HQ 5×3 props) and 4S for the 2400KV/2450KV. (Ummagawd 1700KV page)
- ESC
- The sheets give 10 A (1600KV) and 15.5 A (2400KV) maximum on 5S; the 1600KV's 6S bench tops out at 9 A. A 20 A ESC covers either. (Ummagawd 1600KV sheet, Ummagawd 1600KV bench data, Ummagawd 2400KV sheet)
- Frame
- Two M2 screws 12 mm apart, in line with the wires, as on the 2Fiddy and Grinderino; standard 12 × 12 frames work with the wires off-angle. (Ummagawd 1700KV page, Ummagawd 1600KV bench data)

Inside the motor
A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:
- Shaft. 3 mm inside, 1.5 mm prop shaft standing 1.5 mm above the bell; props bolt on with 4 × M2 on a 5 × 5 mm square (T-mount). (Ummagawd 1600KV bench data)
- Bell. perforated with slotted cutouts to cut rotating mass. (Ummagawd 1700KV page)
- Stator. The coils are wound on a stack of thin steel laminations: 20 × 4 mm (2004). (Ummagawd 1600KV sheet)
- Bearings. 8 × 4 × 3 mm, custom oversized. (Ummagawd 1700KV page)
- Base. 2 × M2 holes 12 mm apart, in line with the motor wires (Ummagawd says it also fits standard 12 × 12 four-hole frames, but the wires may hang over the arm (S1)). (Ummagawd 1600KV bench data)
How fast it spins
KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 1700KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.
| Battery | Volts | No-load rpm (KV × V) | Electrical frequency | ESC steps per second |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4S nominal | 14.8 | 25,160 | 2,935 Hz | 17,612 |
| 4S full | 16.8 | 28,560 | 3,332 Hz | 19,992 |
| 6S nominal | 22.2 | 37,740 | 4,403 Hz | 26,418 |
| 6S full | 25.2 | 42,840 | 4,998 Hz | 29,988 |
A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.
About the 3D model
A generic outrunner drawn from Ummagawd’s published sizes: the 20 × 4 mm stator, 24.7 mm bell, 13.2 mm height, 1.5 mm shaft, 12 mm mounting circle and 12 teeth and 14 magnets. Anything Ummagawd doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
