5-inch FPV freestyle motor

T-Motor Velox V2306 V3

T-Motor's budget 5-inch motor on a 2306 stator, in four windings from 1500KV for 8S to 2550KV for 4S; the 1950KV pulls 1689 g on T-Motor's 24 V bench with a T5147-3.

Drawing the 3D model…

The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 2306 motor drawn from T-Motor’s published sizes, not its exact design. Thrust, current and power are T-Motor’s bench figures for the T-MOTOR T5147-3 prop at 24 V, read straight across between its throttle steps. Its data starts at 20% throttle.

At 60% with the T-MOTOR T5147-3: 845 g of thrust, 14.9 A, 354 W, 2.39 g per watt.

On your quad

10.4 : 1

Thrust to weight at full throttle: four motors pull 6,755 g with the T-MOTOR T5147-3 at 24 V.

At 60% throttle they pull 3,381 g, 5.2 times the quad’s weight.

All-up weight is the quad ready to fly, with its battery and camera. The thrust is the maker’s static bench figure; in the air it is lower.

What to pair it with

Our reading of T-Motor’s numbers, so your build matches what the motor was tested with.

ESC
Peak current over 60 s is 41.7 A for the 1950KV and about 35 A for the others. T-Hobby pairs it with T-Motor's V45A V2 4-in-1. (T-Motor drawing and specs, T-Hobby product page)
Props
T-Hobby recommends T-Motor's T5143S. On the 24 V bench the 1950KV pulls 1689 g on the T5147-3, 1481 g on the T5143S-3 and 1467 g on the P49436-3. (T-Hobby product page, T-Motor test report)
Battery
6S for the 1750KV and 1950KV, 8S for the 1500KV, 4S for the 2550KV. With props of 7 inches or more, T-Motor recommends no more than 4S. (T-Motor drawing and specs, T-Motor product page)
Frame
5-inch quads, per T-Hobby. Four M3 holes, opposite holes 16 mm apart. (T-Hobby product page, T-Motor drawing and specs)

Inside the motor

A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:

  • Bell. 27.9 mm across. White, with the top and base in a colour that marks the KV; ten spokes in the top. (T-Motor product page)
  • Shaft. 5 mm where it leaves the bell and 4 mm inside the bearings, with 7 mm of M5 thread; it stands 12 mm above the bell. (T-Motor drawing and specs)
  • Magnets and winding. Curved magnets forming 14 poles round a 12-slot stator, wound with a single strand of wire rated for high temperature. (T-Hobby product page)
  • Base. What T-Motor calls an angular base, with four M3 holes 16 mm apart; three 20 AWG leads, 150 mm long. (T-Motor drawing and specs)

How fast it spins

KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 1950KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.

BatteryVoltsNo-load rpm (KV × V)Electrical frequencyESC steps per second
4S nominal14.828,8603,367 Hz20,202
4S full16.832,7603,822 Hz22,932
6S nominal22.243,2905,051 Hz30,303
6S full25.249,1405,733 Hz34,398

A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.

About the 3D model

A generic outrunner drawn from T-Motor’s published sizes: the 23 × 6 mm stator, 27.9 mm bell, 18.65 mm height, 5 mm shaft, 16 mm mounting circle and 12 teeth and 14 magnets. Anything T-Motor doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
