5-inch FPV freestyle motor

T-Motor Velox V2306 V2

T-Motor's budget Velox 5-inch motor on a 2306 stator: 1950KV for 5S–6S and 2400KV for 4S, 32 g with leads, and 1.66 kg of pull on T-Motor's 24 V bench with a T5150.

  • 5-inch freestyle and racing
  • 5S–6S (1950KV) or 4S (2400KV)
  • T-Motor 5-inch tri-blade props
Drawing the 3D model…

The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 2306 motor drawn from T-Motor’s published sizes, not its exact design. Thrust, current and power are T-Motor’s bench figures for the T5150 prop at 24 V, read straight across between its throttle steps. Its data starts at 50% throttle.

Version

T-Motor benched it at 24 V (6S).

At 60% with the T5150: 845 g of thrust, 13.5 A, 318 W, 2.66 g per watt.

On your quad

10.2 : 1

Thrust to weight at full throttle: four motors pull 6,625 g with the T5150 at 24 V.

At 60% throttle they pull 3,381 g, 5.2 times the quad’s weight.

All-up weight is the quad ready to fly, with its battery and camera. The thrust is the maker’s static bench figure; in the air it is lower.

What to pair it with

Our reading of T-Motor’s numbers, so your build matches what the motor was tested with.

ESC
Peak current over 60 s is 38.1 A for the 1950KV and 34.1 A for the 2400KV. T-Hobby pairs it with T-Motor's V45A V2 4-in-1. (T-Motor drawing and 1950KV specs, T-Motor specs and test report, T-Hobby product page)
Props
T-Motor benched both KVs on its T5143S, T5146, T5147 and T5150. At full throttle on 24 V the 1950KV pulls 1656 g on the T5150 and 1486 g on the T5143S. T-Hobby recommends the T5146. (T-Motor specs and test report, T-Hobby product page)
Battery
5S–6S for the 1950KV, 4S for the 2400KV. T-Hobby suggests a 4S 1550 mAh or 6S 1300 mAh 120C pack. (T-Motor drawing and 1950KV specs, T-Motor specs and test report, T-Hobby product page)
Frame
5-inch quads of about 700 g on 4S or 720 g on 6S, per T-Hobby. Four M3 holes on a 16 mm circle. (T-Hobby product page, T-Motor drawing and 1950KV specs)

Inside the motor

A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:

How fast it spins

KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 1950KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.

BatteryVoltsNo-load rpm (KV × V)Electrical frequencyESC steps per second
4S nominal14.828,8603,367 Hz20,202
4S full16.832,7603,822 Hz22,932
6S nominal22.243,2905,051 Hz30,303
6S full25.249,1405,733 Hz34,398

A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.

About the 3D model

A generic outrunner drawn from T-Motor’s published sizes: the 23 × 6 mm stator, 27.9 mm bell, 18.3 mm height, 16 mm mounting circle and 12 teeth and 14 magnets. Anything T-Motor doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
