5-inch FPV freestyle motor

T-Motor Pacer P22.6-7 Bando

T-Motor's bando motor for 5–6-inch freestyle, with a 5 mm inner shaft against bent shafts and a thickened, ribbed bell: 1880KV or 1980KV for 6S; the 1980KV pulls 1740 g on a T-Hobby F5146 at full throttle on T-Motor's 24 V bench.

  • 5-inch bando and freestyle (flow, acro, tight gaps)
  • 6S
  • 5-inch tri-blade props of 2.7–4.7-inch pitch
Drawing the 3D model…

The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 22.6-7 motor drawn from T-Motor’s published sizes, not its exact design. Thrust, current and power are T-Motor’s bench figures for the F5146 prop at 24 V, read straight across between its throttle steps. Its data starts at 20% throttle.

On your quad

10.7 : 1

Thrust to weight at full throttle: four motors pull 6,960 g with the F5146 at 24 V.

At 60% throttle they pull 3,384 g, 5.2 times the quad’s weight.

All-up weight is the quad ready to fly, with its battery and camera. The thrust is the maker’s static bench figure; in the air it is lower.

What you get for $24.90

  • 5 mm inner shaft

T-Motor moves from the 4 mm shaft usual on 5-inch motors to 5 mm, and says it ends bent shafts after hard crashes in tight bando spots.

    Source: T-Motor product page

  • Built for crashes

A thickened aluminium-alloy bell and reinforced ribs, which T-Motor says take hits on concrete or rebar with little risk of jamming.

    Source: T-Motor product page

  • Smooth throttle

T-Motor says its new stator and electromagnetic design give smooth throttle control for flow, bando, mind-bending and acro flying.

  • Bench data for both KVs

Thrust, current, RPM, power and torque in 10% steps on four 5-inch props at about 24 V; at full throttle the 1980KV pulled 1616–1740 g and the 1880KV 1539–1644 g.

What to pair it with

Our reading of T-Motor’s numbers, so your build matches what the motor was tested with.

ESC
Peak current is 43 A for the 1980KV and 39 A for the 1880KV. T-Motor suggests its F55A PRO III 8S, V50A SE 6S or P60A V2 6S 4-in-1, with timing 22.5–30 and 24–48 kHz PWM on AM32. (Ligpower product page, T-Hobby product page)
Props
5-inch tri-blades of 2.7–4.7-inch pitch, per T-Motor. On the 24 V bench the 1980KV pulled 1740 g on T-Hobby's F5146, 1727 g on Gemfan's GF5127, 1703 g on an HQProp 5.1 × 2.9 × 3 and 1616 g on the T5143S at full throttle. (Ligpower product page)
Frame
5-inch X4 bando frames, with a take-off weight up to 1000 g recommended and 2000 g at most, per T-Motor. Four M3 holes on a 16 mm circle. (Ligpower product page, T-Motor drawing)

Inside the motor

A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:

How fast it spins

KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 1980KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.

BatteryVoltsNo-load rpm (KV × V)Electrical frequencyESC steps per second
4S nominal14.829,3043,419 Hz20,513
4S full16.833,2643,881 Hz23,285
6S nominal22.243,9565,128 Hz30,769
6S full25.249,8965,821 Hz34,927

A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.

About the 3D model

A generic outrunner drawn from T-Motor’s published sizes: the 22.6 × 7 mm stator, 29 mm bell, 19.8 mm height, 5 mm shaft, 16 mm mounting circle and 12 teeth and 14 magnets. Anything T-Motor doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
