3–3.5-inch FPV motor

T-Motor F2004

A 16.4 g motor for 3-inch cinewhoops and 4–5-inch ultralights, with a T-mount top and a 1.5 mm shaft: 3000KV for 4S–5S, 1700KV for 6S.

  • 3-inch cinewhoops (3000KV)
  • 4–5-inch toothpicks and ultralights
  • 4S–5S (3000KV) or 6S (1700KV)
Drawing the 3D model…

The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 2004 motor drawn from T-Motor’s published sizes, not its exact design. Thrust, current and power are T-Motor’s bench figures for the GF5125 prop at 16 V, read straight across between its throttle steps. Its data starts at 50% throttle.

Version

For 3-inch cinewhoops and 4–5-inch toothpicks and ultralights; T-Motor benched it at 16 V (4S).

What it pulls

T-Motor’s own bench test, one line per prop. Drag across the chart to move the throttle; the model above follows.

At 60% with the GF5125: 487 g of thrust, 10.5 A, 165 W, 2.95 g per watt.

On your quad

5.9 : 1

Thrust to weight at full throttle: four motors pull 3,805 g with the GF5125 at 16 V.

At 60% throttle they pull 1,947 g, 3.0 times the quad’s weight.

All-up weight is the quad ready to fly, with its battery and camera. The thrust is the maker’s static bench figure; in the air it is lower.

What you get for $19.90

  • T-mount, 1.5 mm shaft

Four M2 holes in the top of the bell take the prop, around a 1.5 mm shaft.

  • Long-range build

    T-Motor's 5-inch long-range build pairs the 1700KV with T4944 props and a 4S 21700 Li-ion pack; at 450 g take-off weight T-Motor says it flew 45–48 minutes.

  • Bench data for both KVs

Thrust, current, RPM, power and motor temperature in 5% steps from 50% throttle: three props for the 1700KV at 24 V, five for the 3000KV at 16 V.

What to pair it with

Our reading of T-Motor’s numbers, so your build matches what the motor was tested with.

ESC
Peak current over 60 s is 21.2 A for the 1700KV and 30.1 A for the 3000KV. T-Hobby and T-Motor's long-range build both use T-Motor's Mini F45A 4-in-1. (T-Motor drawing, T-Motor spec tables, T-Motor long-range build, T-Hobby product page)
Props
T-Hobby recommends T-Motor's T4944. T-Motor benched the 1700KV on GF4023, GT5125 and T4944 props at 24 V (945 g at full throttle on the T4944), and the 3000KV on GF D76, GF4023, GF5125, T76 and T4944 props at 16 V (951 g on the GF5125). (T-Hobby product page, T-Motor test report)
Battery
6S for the 1700KV, 4S–5S for the 3000KV. T-Hobby suggests a 4S 1500 mAh or 6S 1100 mAh 120C pack; T-Motor's long-range build uses a 4S 21700 Li-ion pack with the 1700KV. (T-Motor drawing, T-Motor spec tables, T-Hobby product page, T-Motor long-range build)
Frame
5-inch toothpick frames or 3.5-inch whoops, per T-Hobby. T-Motor's long-range build aims for 400–500 g take-off weight on a 120–180 g frame. The base takes four M2 screws on a 12 mm circle. (T-Hobby product page, T-Motor long-range build, T-Motor drawing)

Inside the motor

A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:

  • Stator. 20 mm across and 4 mm tall, 12 slots under 14 magnet poles (12N14P). (T-Motor spec tables)
  • Bell. 24.3 mm across, with six spokes in the top and four M2 holes round the shaft for T-mount props. (T-Motor drawing)
  • Shaft. 1.5 mm, standing 3.5 mm above the bell; the motor is 17.25 mm long overall. (T-Motor drawing)
  • Base. Four M2 holes on a 12 mm circle; three 24 AWG leads, 130 mm long. (T-Motor drawing)

How fast it spins

KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 3000KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.

BatteryVoltsNo-load rpm (KV × V)Electrical frequencyESC steps per second
4S nominal14.844,4005,180 Hz31,080
4S full16.850,4005,880 Hz35,280
6S nominal22.266,6007,770 Hz46,620
6S full25.275,6008,820 Hz52,920

A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.

About the 3D model

A generic outrunner drawn from T-Motor’s published sizes: the 20 × 4 mm stator, 24.3 mm bell, 13.75 mm height, 1.5 mm shaft, 12 mm mounting circle and 12 teeth and 14 magnets. Anything T-Motor doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
