3–4-inch cinewhoop motor

T-Motor F1408-II

T-Motor's 1408 for 3–4-inch cinewhoops, in 2800KV for 4S–6S and 3950KV for 3S–4S; T-Motor gives 12.7 g without leads and up to 734 g of thrust, from the 3950KV on an HQ3520-3 at 4S.

  • 3–4-inch cinewhoops; T-Motor adds SPEC racing
  • 4S–6S (2800KV) or 3S–4S (3950KV)
  • 3–4-inch props on a T-mount
Drawing the 3D model…

The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 1408 motor drawn from T-Motor’s published sizes, not its exact design. Thrust, current and power are T-Motor’s bench figures for the GF3028-3 prop at 25.22 V, read straight across between its throttle steps. Its data starts at 50% throttle.

Version

Benched on a Gemfan 3028 tri-blade at 16.8, 21 and 25.2 V (4S to 6S), and at 16.8 V on an HQ3520-3, a Gemfan 4042-2 and a Gemfan 4023-3.

At 60% with the GF3028-3: 309 g of thrust, 5.2 A, 132 W, 2.34 g per watt.

On your quad

4.5 : 1

Thrust to weight at full throttle: four motors pull 2,906 g with the GF3028-3 at 25.22 V.

At 60% throttle they pull 1,235 g, 1.9 times the quad’s weight.

All-up weight is the quad ready to fly, with its battery and camera. The thrust is the maker’s static bench figure; in the air it is lower.

What to pair it with

Our reading of T-Motor’s numbers, so your build matches what the motor was tested with.

ESC
Peak current over 60 s is 15.3 A for the 2800KV and 22.4 A for the 3950KV. T-Motor suggests its Mini F45A 6S 4-in-1; T-Hobby says a 3–6S ESC. (T-Motor drawing and specs, Ligpower (T-Motor) product page, T-Hobby product page)
Props
3–4-inch props, per T-Hobby. At full throttle at 16.8 V the 2800KV pulled 531 g on an HQ3520-3, 618 g on a Gemfan 4042-2 and 626 g on a Gemfan 4023-3. (T-Hobby product page, T-Motor test report)
Battery
4S–6S for the 2800KV, 3S–4S for the 3950KV. T-Hobby suggests a 4S 1500 mAh or 6S 1100 mAh 120C pack, for a take-off weight of about 520–530 g. (T-Motor drawing and specs, T-Hobby product page)
Frame
3–4-inch cinewhoops and SPEC racers, per T-Motor. Four M2 holes on a 12 mm circle. (T-Motor product page, T-Motor drawing and specs)

Inside the motor

A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:

How fast it spins

KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 2800KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.

BatteryVoltsNo-load rpm (KV × V)Electrical frequencyESC steps per second
4S nominal14.841,4404,144 Hz24,864
4S full16.847,0404,704 Hz28,224
6S nominal22.262,1606,216 Hz37,296
6S full25.270,5607,056 Hz42,336

A 12-pole rotor has 6 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 6 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 36 times per turn.

About the 3D model

A generic outrunner drawn from T-Motor’s published sizes: the 14 × 8 mm stator, 17.9 mm bell, 17.2 mm height, 1.5 mm shaft, 12 mm mounting circle and 9 teeth and 12 magnets. Anything T-Motor doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
