7-inch long-range and freestyle FPV motor

RCinPower SmooX 2806.5

A 47 g 2806.5 that RCinPower tested on 7-inch props, recommending the 1350KV for long range and the 1750KV for heavier freestyle; on 6S the 1350KV pulled 1,895–2,573 g per motor on five 6- and 7-inch props.

  • 7-inch long range (1350KV)
  • 7-inch freestyle with heavier loads (1750KV)
  • 4S–6S
Drawing the 3D model…

The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 2806.5 motor drawn from RCinPower’s published sizes, not its exact design. Thrust, current and power are RCinPower’s bench figures for the DALProp 7056, 3-blade prop at 24 V, read straight across between its throttle steps. Its data starts at 50% throttle.

Version

RCinPower recommends it for efficient long-range flying on 7-inch props. Tested at 21 V (5S) and 24 V (6S).

At 60% with the DALProp 7056, 3-blade: 1,294 g of thrust, 12.4 A, 298 W, 5.21 g per watt.

On your quad

15.8 : 1

Thrust to weight at full throttle: four motors pull 10,292 g with the DALProp 7056, 3-blade at 24 V.

At 60% throttle they pull 5,175 g, 8.0 times the quad’s weight.

All-up weight is the quad ready to fly, with its battery and camera. The thrust is the maker’s static bench figure; in the air it is lower.

What you get

  • Two KVs for 7-inch

RCinPower settled both KVs by testing on 7-inch props: the 1350KV for efficient long-range flying, the 1750KV for agile freestyle with heavier loads.

  • 7075 aluminium

RCinPower makes the whole motor of 7075 aluminium, with a reshaped rotor that it says moves air better and runs cooler.

  • Damped rotor

It keeps the A.I.P. and B.F.P. damping design from RCinPower's 2207 Plus, which RCinPower says makes the motor last longer, feel better in flight and ease the load on the flight controller.

Gemfan 6042 and 7042, Gemfan 6042 and 7040 three-blades and a DALProp 7056 three-blade, at up to three voltages per KV, with the temperature after 5 s at full throttle.

What to pair it with

Our reading of RCinPower’s numbers, so your build matches what the motor was tested with.

ESC
The 1350KV drew up to 36.3 A at full throttle on 6S (Gemfan 7042, 85 °C, which RCinPower marks hot); the 1750KV up to 50 A on 5S (Gemfan 7042) and 46.6 A on 6S (Gemfan 6042 three-blade). RCinPower rates them at 40 A and 50 A. An ESC rated for at least 40 A per motor covers the 1350KV; the 1750KV needs 50 A. (RCinPower 1350KV sheet, RCinPower 1750KV sheet)
Props
The 7-inch three-blades pulled the most: up to 2,573 g on the 1350KV at 6S (DALProp 7056) and 2,707 g on the 1750KV at 5S (Gemfan 7040). The Gemfan 7042 drew the most current for its thrust and ran hottest on both KVs. (RCinPower 1350KV sheet, RCinPower 1750KV sheet)
Battery
4S–6S for both KVs; RCinPower tested the 1350KV on 5S and 6S and the 1750KV on 4S to 6S. (RCinPower 1350KV sheet, RCinPower 1750KV sheet)
Frame
Four M3 screws, opposite holes 19 mm apart. (RCinPower 1350KV sheet)

Bench data

Redrawn from RCinPower’s test reports. Thrust is static pull on a bench, more than you get in flight. Power is volts × amps; efficiency is thrust divided by power.

Inside the motor

A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:

  • Bell. 7075 aluminium, like the rest of the motor, with a rotor shape reworked for airflow. (RCinPower features image)
  • Stator. 28 × 6.5 mm, with the materials of RCinPower's GTS V2 series and 260 °C single-crystal oxygen-free copper windings. (RCinPower features image)
  • Bearings. Imported bearings, larger than usual for the class, which RCinPower says last longer. (RCinPower features image)
  • Shaft. 4 mm hollow, with a 5 mm thread for the prop nut standing 15.1 mm above the bell. (RCinPower 1350KV sheet)

How fast it spins

KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 1350KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.

BatteryVoltsNo-load rpm (KV × V)Electrical frequencyESC steps per second
4S nominal14.819,9802,331 Hz13,986
4S full16.822,6802,646 Hz15,876
6S nominal22.229,9703,497 Hz20,979
6S full25.234,0203,969 Hz23,814

A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.

About the 3D model

A generic outrunner drawn from RCinPower’s published sizes: the 28 × 6.5 mm stator, 34.3 mm bell, 17.8 mm height, 5 mm shaft, 19 mm mounting circle and 12 teeth and 14 magnets. Anything RCinPower doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
