3- to 5-inch light FPV motor

RCinPower GTS V3 2105 Plus

A 21 g 2105 for 3- to 4-inch toothpicks, ducted quads and ultralight 5-inch builds; on 4S the 2950KV pulled 805–1,236 g per motor at full throttle on 4- and 5-inch props.

  • 3- to 4-inch toothpicks and ducted quads
  • ultralight 5-inch long range
  • 3S–4S (2950KV, 3600KV) or 5S–6S (1850KV)
Drawing the 3D model…

The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 2105 motor drawn from RCinPower’s published sizes, not its exact design. Thrust, current and power are RCinPower’s bench figures for the Gemfan 5125 prop at 16 V, read straight across between its throttle steps. Its data starts at 50% throttle.

Tested at 12 V (3S) and 16 V (4S), and at 24 V on 76 mm ducted props.

On your quad

7.6 : 1

Thrust to weight at full throttle: four motors pull 4,944 g with the Gemfan 5125 at 16 V.

At 60% throttle they pull 2,438 g, 3.8 times the quad’s weight.

All-up weight is the quad ready to fly, with its battery and camera. The thrust is the maker’s static bench figure; in the air it is lower.

  • For light 3- to 5-inch builds

RCinPower says the 2105 Plus suits ultralight 5-inch long-range quads and 3- to 4-inch toothpicks and ducted quads, and calls it light with high torque.

  • Most efficient at low current

    RCinPower gives over 85% efficiency at 1–3 A for the 1850KV, 2–4 A for the 2950KV and 3–6 A for the 3600KV.

What to pair it with

Our reading of RCinPower’s numbers, so your build matches what the motor was tested with.

ESC
On 4S at full throttle the 2950KV drew 19.5–31.6 A on 4- and 5-inch props and the 3600KV 35–36.4 A; on 6S the 1850KV drew no more than 16.5 A. RCinPower rates the 2950KV at 38.8 A and the 3600KV at 36.4 A. An ESC rated for at least 40 A per motor covers the 2950KV and 3600KV on 4S. (RCinPower page image)
Props
On the 2950KV at 16 V the 4-inch Gemfan 4024 ran coolest (58 °C) and the 5-inch props pulled 1,176–1,236 g at full throttle. RCinPower marks the 3600KV on the Gemfan D90 ducted prop at 16 V hot (83 °C). (RCinPower page image)
Battery
3S–4S for the 2950KV and 3600KV; 5S–6S for the 1850KV. (RCinPower page image)
Frame
Four M2 screws, opposite holes 12 mm apart. (RCinPower page image)

Bench data

Redrawn from RCinPower’s test reports. Thrust is static pull on a bench, more than you get in flight. Power is volts × amps; efficiency is thrust divided by power.

Inside the motor

A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:

  • Shaft. 3 mm inside, M5 thread outside; the thread stands 11.5 mm above the bell. (RCinPower page image)
  • Stator. The coils are wound on a stack of thin steel laminations: 21 × 5.5 mm (RCinPower names the motor 2105; its spec tables give a 5.5 mm stator height). (RCinPower page image)
  • Base. 4 × M2 holes, opposite holes 12 mm apart (12 × 12). (RCinPower page image)

How fast it spins

KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 2950KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.

BatteryVoltsNo-load rpm (KV × V)Electrical frequencyESC steps per second
4S nominal14.843,6605,094 Hz30,562
4S full16.849,5605,782 Hz34,692
6S nominal22.265,4907,641 Hz45,843
6S full25.274,3408,673 Hz52,038

A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.

About the 3D model

A generic outrunner drawn from RCinPower’s published sizes: the 21 × 5.5 mm stator, 25.53 mm bell, 15.2 mm height, 5 mm shaft, 12 mm mounting circle and 12 teeth and 14 magnets. Anything RCinPower doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
