3- to 5-inch light FPV motor

RCinPower GTS V3 2104T

A 15.9 g 2104 that RCinPower made for ultralight 5-inch long-range quads, 3–4-inch toothpicks and ducted quads; on 6S the 1800KV pulled 1,094–1,117 g per motor on three 5-inch props.

  • Ultralight 5-inch long range
  • 3–4-inch toothpicks and ducted quads
  • 4S–6S (1800KV) or 3S–4S (3000KV)
Drawing the 3D model…

The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 2104 motor drawn from RCinPower’s published sizes, not its exact design. Thrust, current and power are RCinPower’s bench figures for the Gemfan 5125, 3-blade prop at 24 V, read straight across between its throttle steps. Its data starts at 50% throttle.

At 60% with the Gemfan 5125, 3-blade: 557 g of thrust, 6.8 A, 164 W, 4.07 g per watt.

On your quad

6.9 : 1

Thrust to weight at full throttle: four motors pull 4,468 g with the Gemfan 5125, 3-blade at 24 V.

At 60% throttle they pull 2,228 g, 3.4 times the quad’s weight.

All-up weight is the quad ready to fly, with its battery and camera. The thrust is the maker’s static bench figure; in the air it is lower.

What to pair it with

Our reading of RCinPower’s numbers, so your build matches what the motor was tested with.

ESC
The 1800KV drew up to 22.1 A at full throttle on 6S (Gemfan 5130, 78 °C); the 3000KV up to 36.2 A on 4S (Gemfan 5130, 80 °C, which RCinPower marks hot). An ESC rated for 25 A per motor covers the 1800KV; the 3000KV needs about 40 A on 4S with 5-inch three-blades. (RCinPower spec sheets)
Props
Tested on Gemfan 5126 two-blades, 5125 and 5130 three-blades, a Gemfan 6026, and D76 and D90 props. The Gemfan 5125 pulled the most on both KVs: 1,117 g on 6S (1800KV) and 1,156 g on 4S (3000KV). (RCinPower spec sheets)
Battery
4S–6S for the 1800KV, 3S–4S for the 3000KV. (RCinPower spec sheets)
Frame
Four M2 screws, opposite holes 12 mm apart. (RCinPower spec sheets)

Bench data

Redrawn from RCinPower’s test reports. Thrust is static pull on a bench, more than you get in flight. Power is volts × amps; efficiency is thrust divided by power.

Inside the motor

A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:

  • Shaft. 3 mm inside the motor, 1.5 mm where it leaves the bell, protruding 2 mm. (RCinPower spec sheets)
  • Stator. The coils are wound on a stack of thin steel laminations: 21 × 4 mm (2104). (RCinPower spec sheets)
  • Base. 4 × M2 holes, opposite holes 12 mm apart (12 × 12); the bell's top has 4 × M2 holes for the prop, opposite holes 5 mm apart. (RCinPower spec sheets)

How fast it spins

KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 1800KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.

BatteryVoltsNo-load rpm (KV × V)Electrical frequencyESC steps per second
4S nominal14.826,6403,108 Hz18,648
4S full16.830,2403,528 Hz21,168
6S nominal22.239,9604,662 Hz27,972
6S full25.245,3605,292 Hz31,752

A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.

About the 3D model

A generic outrunner drawn from RCinPower’s published sizes: the 21 × 4 mm stator, 25.35 mm bell, 13.8 mm height, 1.5 mm shaft, 12 mm mounting circle and 12 teeth and 14 magnets. Anything RCinPower doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
