7-inch long-range FPV motor
MEPS SZ2806.5
A 7-inch long-range and cinematic motor on a 28 × 6.5 mm stator: 47.5 g with leads, NMB bearings, and 2430.1 g of thrust per motor on MEPS's 25.2 V bench (1300KV, Gemfan 7040 three-blade).
- 7-inch long range and cinematic
- 6S on 7-inch (1300KV); 4S on 7-inch or 6S on 5–6-inch (1800KV)
- Frames with 19 × 19 mm motor mounts
The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 2806.5 motor drawn from MEPS’s published sizes, not its exact design. Thrust, current and power are MEPS’s bench figures for the GF7040-3 prop at 25.2 V, read straight across between its throttle steps. Its data starts at 10% throttle.

What it pulls
MEPS’s own bench test, one line per prop. Drag across the chart to move the throttle; the model above follows.
At 60% with the GF7040-3: 1,093 g of thrust, 12.2 A, 306 W, 3.58 g per watt.
On your quad
15.0 : 1
Thrust to weight at full throttle: four motors pull 9,720 g with the GF7040-3 at 25.2 V.
At 60% throttle they pull 4,372 g, 6.7 times the quad’s weight.
All-up weight is the quad ready to fly, with its battery and camera. The thrust is the maker’s static bench figure; in the air it is lower.

What to pair it with
Our reading of MEPS’s numbers, so your build matches what the motor was tested with.
- ESC
- MEPS suggests a 50–60 A ESC for demanding 7-inch builds. Its full-throttle tests reach 44.8 A (1300KV, Gemfan 7040, 6S) and 63.1 A (1800KV, HQ 6040, 6S). (MEPS product page, MEPS data test)
- Props
- MEPS tested the 1300KV with a Gemfan 8040 on 4S and an HQ 6040 and Gemfan 7040 on 6S, and the 1800KV with a Gemfan 51466 and an HQ 6040 on 6S. (MEPS data test)
- Battery
- 4S–6S. MEPS recommends the 1300KV on 6S with 7-inch props, and the 1800KV on 4S with 7-inch props or 6S with 5–6-inch props. (MEPS product page)
- Frame
- Four M3 screws on a 19 mm circle (19 × 19 mm); check the frame takes this pattern. M3×8 and M3×9 screws come in the box. (MEPS product page, MEPS size chart)

Inside the motor
A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:
- Shaft. 5 mm, M5 × 0.8 thread 8 mm long, protrudes 14.6 mm above the bell. (MEPS size chart)
- Bell. one piece ("Uni-Bell"). (MEPS product page)
- Magnets. N52H arc magnets. (MEPS product page)
- Stator. The coils are wound on a stack of thin steel laminations: 28 × 6.5 mm (2806.5) (MEPS's page calls it the 2806.5 stator). (MEPS product page)
- Bearings. NMB, rated by MEPS for up to 10,000 hours. (MEPS product page)
- Base. 4 × M3 holes on a 19 mm circle (19 × 19 mm). (MEPS size chart)
How fast it spins
KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 1300KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.
| Battery | Volts | No-load rpm (KV × V) | Electrical frequency | ESC steps per second |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4S nominal | 14.8 | 19,240 | 2,245 Hz | 13,468 |
| 4S full | 16.8 | 21,840 | 2,548 Hz | 15,288 |
| 6S nominal | 22.2 | 28,860 | 3,367 Hz | 20,202 |
| 6S full | 25.2 | 32,760 | 3,822 Hz | 22,932 |
A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.
About the 3D model
A generic outrunner drawn from MEPS’s published sizes: the 28 × 6.5 mm stator, 34.14 mm bell, 19.6 mm height, 5 mm shaft, 19 mm mounting circle and 12 teeth and 14 magnets. Anything MEPS doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
