5-inch FPV racing motor
MEPS NEON COOL 2306
A 5-inch racing motor in CW and CCW versions with direction-specific bell ribs: 33 g with leads, a TC4 titanium shaft and NMB bearings, and 1854–1860 g of thrust at full throttle on MEPS's 25.2 V bench (SZ5145).
- 5-inch racing and technical freestyle
- 6S
- 5-inch three-blade props (MEPS SZ5145, SZ4942)
The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 2306 motor drawn from MEPS’s published sizes, not its exact design. Thrust, current and power are MEPS’s bench figures for the MEPS SZ5145 prop at 25.2 V, read straight across between its throttle steps. Its data starts at 10% throttle.

What it pulls
MEPS’s own bench test, one line per prop. Drag across the chart to move the throttle; the model above follows.
At 60% with the MEPS SZ5145: 1,028 g of thrust, 15.6 A, 386 W, 2.70 g per watt.
On your quad
11.4 : 1
Thrust to weight at full throttle: four motors pull 7,440 g with the MEPS SZ5145 at 25.2 V.
At 60% throttle they pull 4,112 g, 6.3 times the quad’s weight.
All-up weight is the quad ready to fly, with its battery and camera. The thrust is the maker’s static bench figure; in the air it is lower.

About 1.86 kg on 6S
On MEPS's 25.2 V bench with its SZ5145 prop the CCW motor pulls 1860 g at full throttle (47.9 A) and the CW motor 1854 g (47.8 A).

What to pair it with
Our reading of MEPS’s numbers, so your build matches what the motor was tested with.
- ESC
- MEPS's guide pairs it with 35–60 A 4-in-1 ESCs. Its spec table gives a 43.8 A peak, but its SZ5145 tests draw 47.8–47.9 A at full throttle, so a 50 A or larger ESC leaves headroom. (MEPS product page, MEPS spec table, MEPS CW data test, MEPS CCW data test)
- Props
- MEPS tested its SZ5145 and SZ4942 three-blade props; the SZ5145 pulls 165–169 g more at full throttle. Its guide also names the Gemfan 5143. (MEPS CW data test, MEPS CCW data test, MEPS product page)
- Battery
- 6S. (MEPS spec table)
- Frame
- Four M3 screws on a 16 mm circle (the 16 × 16 pattern of 5-inch frames). Put CW motors with CW props and CCW motors with CCW props. (MEPS size chart, MEPS product page)

Inside the motor
A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:
- Shaft. 5 mm (± 0.05 mm) TC4 titanium alloy, M5 × 0.8 thread 8.5 mm long, protrudes 12.8 mm above the bell (the material is from MEPS's page (S1), the tolerance from its spec table (S2)). (MEPS size chart)
- Bell. Direction-specific ribs (CW and CCW versions) on a low-inertia rotor. (MEPS product page)
- Stator. The coils are wound on a stack of thin steel laminations: 23 × 6 mm (2306) (from the model's size code; the page gives no other stator figures). (MEPS product page)
- Winding. 220 °C enamelled wire. (MEPS product page)
- Bearings. NMB. (MEPS product page)
- Base. 4 × M3 holes on a 16 mm circle. (MEPS size chart)
How fast it spins
KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 1950KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.
| Battery | Volts | No-load rpm (KV × V) | Electrical frequency | ESC steps per second |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4S nominal | 14.8 | 28,860 | 3,367 Hz | 20,202 |
| 4S full | 16.8 | 32,760 | 3,822 Hz | 22,932 |
| 6S nominal | 22.2 | 43,290 | 5,051 Hz | 30,303 |
| 6S full | 25.2 | 49,140 | 5,733 Hz | 34,398 |
A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.
About the 3D model
A generic outrunner drawn from MEPS’s published sizes: the 23 × 6 mm stator, 29.3 mm bell, 18.5 mm height, 5 mm shaft, 16 mm mounting circle and 12 teeth and 14 magnets. Anything MEPS doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
