5 to 6-inch long-range FPV motor

iFlight XING2 2506

A 2506 that iFlight sells as a long-range motor: a one-piece 7075 bell, a 5 mm titanium shaft, NSK 10 × 4 × 4 bearings, and 1.9 kg of pull per motor on a 6-inch tri-blade on iFlight's 6S bench (1500KV).

  • 6-inch props (1500KV) or 5-inch props (1850KV), as iFlight tested them
Drawing the 3D model…

The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 2506 motor drawn from iFlight’s published sizes, not its exact design. Thrust, current and power are iFlight’s bench figures for the Gemfan 6030-3 prop at 25.2 V, read straight across between its throttle steps. Its data starts at 50% throttle.

At 60% with the Gemfan 6030-3: 829 g of thrust, 9.8 A, 247 W, 3.36 g per watt.

On your quad

11.5 : 1

Thrust to weight at full throttle: four motors pull 7,488 g with the Gemfan 6030-3 at 25.2 V.

At 60% throttle they pull 3,316 g, 5.1 times the quad’s weight.

All-up weight is the quad ready to fly, with its battery and camera. The thrust is the maker’s static bench figure; in the air it is lower.

What you get for $25.99

  • 5 mm titanium shaft

iFlight calls it its strongest prop shaft yet. It protrudes 15 mm and carries an M5 thread.

  • NSK 10 × 4 × 4 bearings

With iFlight's O-ring protecting the bearing gap.

  • Curved N52H magnets

Centre-slotted arc magnets set close to the stator. iFlight says they shorten the motor's response time.

  • Wire protector, balanced

A protector on the base guards the motor wires, and each motor is dynamically balanced.

What to pair it with

Our reading of iFlight’s numbers, so your build matches what the motor was tested with.

ESC
Rated for at least the motor's peak current on 6S: about 33 A for the 1500KV on a 6-inch tri-blade and 50 A for the 1850KV on a 5-inch tri-blade. (iFlight 1500KV test report, iFlight 1850KV test report)
Props
iFlight tested the 1500KV with an HQ 6 × 2.5 × 3 (1860 g at full throttle) and a Gemfan 6030-3 (1872 g); the HQ was slightly more efficient at half throttle, 3.79 g/W against 3.72. (iFlight 1500KV test report)
Battery
6S. iFlight gives 25.2 V input for both KVs. (iFlight product page)
Frame
Four M3 holes on a 16 mm circle (sold as "16 × 16"). Four M3 × 8 screws and an M5 lock nut come in the box. (iFlight product page, iFlight 1500KV test report)

Bench data

Redrawn from iFlight’s test reports. Thrust is static pull on a bench, more than you get in flight. Power is volts × amps; efficiency is thrust divided by power.

Inside the motor

A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:

How fast it spins

KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 1500KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.

BatteryVoltsNo-load rpm (KV × V)Electrical frequencyESC steps per second
4S nominal14.822,2002,590 Hz15,540
4S full16.825,2002,940 Hz17,640
6S nominal22.233,3003,885 Hz23,310
6S full25.237,8004,410 Hz26,460

A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.

About the 3D model

A generic outrunner drawn from iFlight’s published sizes: the 25 × 6 mm stator, 31.7 mm bell, 19.6 mm height, 5 mm shaft, 16 mm mounting circle and 12 teeth and 14 magnets. Anything iFlight doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
