9- to 10-inch long-range FPV motor

GEPRC SPEEDX2 3214

A 155 g 3214 that GEPRC made for 9- to 10-inch long-range quads on 6S; on GEPRC’s 24 V bench it pulled 4,723 g at full throttle on a Gemfan 1050 tri-blade, drawing 77.8 A.

Drawing the 3D model…

The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 3214 motor drawn from GEPRC’s published sizes, not its exact design. Thrust, current and power are GEPRC’s bench figures for the Gemfan 1050 prop at 24 V, read straight across between its throttle steps. Its data starts at 40% throttle.

At 60% with the Gemfan 1050: 1,774 g of thrust, 18.9 A, 454 W, 3.90 g per watt.

On your quad

29.1 : 1

Thrust to weight at full throttle: four motors pull 18,892 g with the Gemfan 1050 at 24 V.

At 60% throttle they pull 7,096 g, 10.9 times the quad’s weight.

All-up weight is the quad ready to fly, with its battery and camera. The thrust is the maker’s static bench figure; in the air it is lower.

What you get

  • 4.7 kg on a 10-inch

    At 24 V it pulled 4,723 g at full throttle on a Gemfan 1050 tri-blade, drawing 77.8 A (1,867 W); on a Gemfan 9045 it pulled 3,419 g at 60.31 A.

  • Cut-out rotor

A one-piece CNC-machined 7075-T6 rotor with an open, cut-out design, which GEPRC says saves weight and adds power.

  • High-temperature wire

Enamelled winding wire made for high temperatures, which GEPRC says keeps the motor stable when hot.

  • N52H magnets

N52H magnets, which GEPRC says give a high magnetic energy product and a stronger field.

What to pair it with

Our reading of GEPRC’s numbers, so your build matches what the motor was tested with.

ESC
GEPRC recommends an 80 A ESC; the motor drew 77.8 A at full throttle on a Gemfan 1050 tri-blade at 24 V and 60.31 A on a Gemfan 9045. (GEPRC spec image, GEPRC drawing and data sheet)
Props
9- to 10-inch. GEPRC tested a Gemfan 1050 and a 9045 tri-blade, which gave 4,723 g and 3,419 g at full throttle. (GEPRC spec image, GEPRC drawing and data sheet)
Battery
6S (25.2 V). (GEPRC product page, GEPRC spec image)
Frame
Four M3 holes on a 19 × 19 mm pattern, with M3×9 round-head screws in the box, and 500 mm 16 AWG leads. (GEPRC product page, GEPRC spec image, GEPRC size photo)

Bench data

Redrawn from GEPRC’s test reports. Thrust is static pull on a bench, more than you get in flight. Power is volts × amps; efficiency is thrust divided by power.

Inside the motor

A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:

How fast it spins

KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 860KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.

BatteryVoltsNo-load rpm (KV × V)Electrical frequencyESC steps per second
4S nominal14.812,7281,485 Hz8,910
4S full16.814,4481,686 Hz10,114
6S nominal22.219,0922,227 Hz13,364
6S full25.221,6722,528 Hz15,170

A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.

About the 3D model

A generic outrunner drawn from GEPRC’s published sizes: the 32 × 14 mm stator, 42 mm bell, 32.9 mm height, 5 mm shaft, 19 mm mounting circle and 12 teeth and 14 magnets. Anything GEPRC doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
