5-inch FPV freestyle motor

GEPRC GR2207

A 31 g 2207 for 5-inch freestyle (2400KV) and racing (2700KV) on 4S–5S, with a 1900KV for long range; on GEPRC’s bench the 2400KV pulls up to 1,747 g per motor at about 20 V and the 2700KV up to 1,517 g at about 16 V.

  • 4S–5S
  • 5 to 6-inch long range (1900KV, 4S–6S)
Drawing the 3D model…

The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 2207 motor drawn from GEPRC’s published sizes, not its exact design. Thrust, current and power are GEPRC’s bench figures for the GEP 5040 x3 prop at 20.67 V, read straight across between its throttle steps. Its data starts at 50% throttle.

Version

GEPRC lists it for freestyle on 5-inch props. Its bench tables are at about 16 V and 20 V. Out of stock at GEPRC.

On your quad

10.8 : 1

Thrust to weight at full throttle: four motors pull 6,988 g with the GEP 5040 x3 at 20.67 V.

At 60% throttle they pull 3,704 g, 5.7 times the quad’s weight.

All-up weight is the quad ready to fly, with its battery and camera. The thrust is the maker’s static bench figure; in the air it is lower.

What you get

ESC
GEPRC lists max currents (30 s) of 40 A (1900KV), 45 A (2400KV) and 48 A (2700KV); its tables peak at 50.91 A, for the 2700KV on a DAL5050 x3 at about 16 V. (GEPRC 2400KV page, GEPRC 2700KV page, GEPRC drawing, specs and data)
Props
GEPRC tested DAL5050 x3, GF 5152 x3 and GEP 5040 x3 props and pairs it with its own GEP-P5040 x3; it lists 5 to 6-inch props for the 1900KV and 5-inch for the others. (GEPRC drawing, specs and data, GEPRC KV guide, GEPRC features image)
Battery

Bench data

Redrawn from GEPRC’s test reports. Thrust is static pull on a bench, more than you get in flight. Power is volts × amps; efficiency is thrust divided by power.

Inside the motor

A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:

How fast it spins

KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 2400KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.

BatteryVoltsNo-load rpm (KV × V)Electrical frequencyESC steps per second
4S nominal14.835,5204,144 Hz24,864
4S full16.840,3204,704 Hz28,224
6S nominal22.253,2806,216 Hz37,296
6S full25.260,4807,056 Hz42,336

A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.

About the 3D model

A generic outrunner drawn from GEPRC’s published sizes: the 22 × 7 mm stator, 26.7 mm bell, 18 mm height, 5 mm shaft, 16 mm mounting circle and 12 teeth and 14 magnets. Anything GEPRC doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
