Drone Motors

3 to 3.5-inch FPV motor

GEPRC GR2004

A 16.8 g 2004 motor that GEPRC made for toothpicks and light long-range quads; its tables reach 1,044 g per motor for the 1750KV at 24 V and 926 g for the 2550KV at 16 V, on 5-inch props.

  • Toothpicks and light long-range builds
  • 4S (2550KV) or 6S (1750KV)
  • 5-inch props
Drawing the 3D model…

The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 2004 motor drawn from GEPRC’s published sizes, not its exact design. No-load speed is KV × 14.8 V, a nominal pack for this version. GEPRC’s bench tables for it step by thrust rather than throttle, so they are in the bench data below, not on this readout.

Version

1.5 mm shaft. GEPRC’s bench tables are at 16 V.

What to pair it with

Our reading of GEPRC’s numbers, so your build matches what the motor was tested with.

ESC
The highest currents in GEPRC’s tables are 21.05 A (1750KV, GF5125 at 24 V) and 23.99 A (2550KV, GF5125 at 16 V). (GEPRC drawing and data table)

Battery
6S for the 1750KV (rated 2S–6S) and 4S for the 2550KV (rated 2S–4S), as in GEPRC’s tables. (GEPRC product page, GEPRC drawing and data table)
Frame
Four M2 holes on a 12 × 12 mm pattern. (GEPRC drawing and data table)

Bench data

Redrawn from GEPRC’s test reports. Thrust is static pull on a bench, more than you get in flight. Power is volts × amps; efficiency is thrust divided by power.

Inside the motor

A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:

How fast it spins

KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 2550KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.

BatteryVoltsNo-load rpm (KV × V)Electrical frequencyESC steps per second
4S nominal14.837,7404,403 Hz26,418
4S full16.842,8404,998 Hz29,988
6S nominal22.256,6106,605 Hz39,627
6S full25.264,2607,497 Hz44,982

A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.

About the 3D model

A generic outrunner drawn from GEPRC’s published sizes: the 20 × 4 mm stator, 24.6 mm bell, 16.7 mm height, 1.5 mm shaft, 12 mm mounting circle and 12 teeth and 14 magnets. Anything GEPRC doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.

The tables step by thrust, at 24 V for the 1750KV and 16 V for the 2550KV, on two 5-inch props; each ends at the highest thrust measured, which GEPRC does not label as full throttle. GEPRC’s voltage column is left out: it reads 24 V on every 1750KV row and 16 V on every 2550KV row, except the 2550KV HQ T5x3’s last row, printed as 24 V although its current and power give 16 V..
