1S–3S whoop and toothpick motor

GEPRC GR1102

A 3.2 g 1102 for whoops and toothpicks on 1S–3S; on GEPRC’s 8 V bench the 10000KV pulls 120 g at full throttle on a 65 mm two-blade and 86 g on a GF1635 four-blade.

  • Whoops and toothpicks
  • 1S–3S (9000KV on 2S, 10000KV on 2S–3S)
  • 1.6-inch four-blade or 2.5-inch two-blade props
Drawing the 3D model…

The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 1102 motor drawn from GEPRC’s published sizes, not its exact design. No-load speed is KV × 11.1 V, a nominal pack for this version. GEPRC’s bench tables for it step by thrust rather than throttle, so they are in the bench data below, not on this readout.

Version

GEPRC suggests 1.6-inch props. Sold with a three-hole or four-hole base. Its bench tables are at 8 V.

What you get

What to pair it with

Our reading of GEPRC’s numbers, so your build matches what the motor was tested with.

ESC
GEPRC gives no ESC rating. Its tables peak at 5.83 A (9000KV), 7.29 A (10000KV) and 12.21 A (14000KV), all on the 65 mm two-blade at 8 V. (GEPRC drawing and load table)
Props
1.6-inch four-blade or 2.5-inch two-blade. GEPRC suggests 2.5-inch two-blades for the 9000KV and 1.6-inch props for the 10000KV and 14000KV, and tested every KV on a GF1635 four-blade and an HQ 65 mm two-blade. (GEPRC product page, GEPRC version image, GEPRC drawing and load table)
Battery
1S–3S LiPo or LiHV: 2S for the 9000KV, 2S–3S for the 10000KV, 1S for the 14000KV. (GEPRC product page, GEPRC version image)
Frame
Three M1.4 holes on a 6.6 mm circle or four M2 holes on a 9 mm circle; GEPRC made it for toothpick and whoop frames. (GEPRC product page, GEPRC drawing and load table)

Bench data

Redrawn from GEPRC’s test reports. Thrust is static pull on a bench, more than you get in flight. Power is volts × amps; efficiency is thrust divided by power.

Inside the motor

A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:

How fast it spins

KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 10000KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.

BatteryVoltsNo-load rpm (KV × V)Electrical frequencyESC steps per second
4S nominal14.8148,00014,800 Hz88,800
4S full16.8168,00016,800 Hz100,800
6S nominal22.2222,00022,200 Hz133,200
6S full25.2252,00025,200 Hz151,200

A 12-pole rotor has 6 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 6 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 36 times per turn.

About the 3D model

A generic outrunner drawn from GEPRC’s published sizes: the 11 × 2 mm stator, 13.8 mm bell, 9.3 mm height, 1.5 mm shaft, 6.6 mm mounting circle and 9 teeth and 12 magnets. Anything GEPRC doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
