7- to 8-inch FPV motor
Foxeer Black Hornet 2809
A 28 × 9 mm, 59 g motor for 7- and 8-inch quads, 1300KV for 4S–6S, that pulled 2.4–2.7 kg at full throttle on Foxeer's 24 V bench.
- 7- and 8-inch quads
- 6S
- 19 × 19 mm M3 motor mounts
The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 2809 motor drawn from Foxeer’s published sizes, not its exact design. Thrust, current and power are Foxeer’s bench figures for the HQ8045×3 prop at 24 V, read straight across between its throttle steps. Its data starts at 50% throttle.

- Weight

What it pulls
Foxeer’s own bench test, one line per prop. Drag across the chart to move the throttle; the model above follows.
At 60% with the HQ8045×3: 1,514 g of thrust, 23.5 A, 563 W, 3.20 g per watt.
On your quad
16.6 : 1
Thrust to weight at full throttle: four motors pull 10,776 g with the HQ8045×3 at 24 V.
At 60% throttle they pull 6,056 g, 9.3 times the quad’s weight.
All-up weight is the quad ready to fly, with its battery and camera. The thrust is the maker’s static bench figure; in the air it is lower.
What you get
About 2.7 kg of pull on 6S
At full throttle at 24 V it pulled 2,694 g on an HQ8045×3 (59.7 A) and 2,681 g on a DAL7056×3 (50.4 A) on Foxeer's bench.

What to pair it with

- ESC
- At full throttle at 24 V it drew 49.5 A on the GF7040×3, 50.4 A on the DAL7056×3 and 59.7 A, Foxeer's max current, on the HQ8045×3. A 55 A ESC covers the 7-inch props; the 8-inch wants 60 A. (Foxeer spec sheet)
- Props
- Foxeer tested it on the GF7040×3, DAL7056×3 and HQ8045×3. At 24 V it pulled 2,436 g, 2,681 g and 2,694 g at full throttle. (Foxeer spec sheet)
- Battery
- 4S–6S; Foxeer tested it at 21 V and 24 V. (Foxeer spec sheet)
- Frame
- Four M3 holes on a 19 × 19 mm pattern. (Foxeer spec sheet)

Bench data
Redrawn from Foxeer’s test reports. Thrust is static pull on a bench, more than you get in flight. Power is volts × amps; efficiency is thrust divided by power.

Inside the motor
A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:
- Shaft. Semi-hollow titanium, 4 mm, with a 5 mm threaded end for the prop. (Foxeer spec sheet)
- Stator. 12N14P, 28 × 9 mm, with a single-wrap winding of single-crystal oxygen-free copper in 260 °C wire. (Foxeer spec sheet)
How fast it spins
KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 1300KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.
| Battery | Volts | No-load rpm (KV × V) | Electrical frequency | ESC steps per second |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4S nominal | 14.8 | 19,240 | 2,245 Hz | 13,468 |
| 4S full | 16.8 | 21,840 | 2,548 Hz | 15,288 |
| 6S nominal | 22.2 | 28,860 | 3,367 Hz | 20,202 |
| 6S full | 25.2 | 32,760 | 3,822 Hz | 22,932 |
A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.
About the 3D model
A generic outrunner drawn from Foxeer’s published sizes: the 28 × 9 mm stator, 34.3 mm bell, 21.3 mm height, 5 mm shaft, 19 mm mounting circle and 12 teeth and 14 magnets. Anything Foxeer doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
