7-inch long-range FPV motor

Foxeer Black Hornet 2806.5

A 28 × 6.5 mm, 46 g motor for 7-inch quads, 1350KV for 4S–6S, that pulled 1.8–2.6 kg at full throttle on 6- and 7-inch props on Foxeer's 24 V bench.

  • 6- and 7-inch quads
  • 6S
  • 19 × 19 mm M3 motor mounts
Drawing the 3D model…

The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 2806.5 motor drawn from Foxeer’s published sizes, not its exact design. Thrust, current and power are Foxeer’s bench figures for the DAL7056×3 prop at 24 V, read straight across between its throttle steps. Its data starts at 50% throttle.

At 60% with the DAL7056×3: 1,307 g of thrust, 15.1 A, 361 W, 4.28 g per watt.

On your quad

15.9 : 1

Thrust to weight at full throttle: four motors pull 10,348 g with the DAL7056×3 at 24 V.

At 60% throttle they pull 5,228 g, 8.0 times the quad’s weight.

All-up weight is the quad ready to fly, with its battery and camera. The thrust is the maker’s static bench figure; in the air it is lower.

What you get

  • About 2.6 kg of pull on 6S

    At full throttle at 24 V it pulled 2,587 g on a DAL7056×3 (40.1 A) and 2,255 g on a DAL F7×3 (39.8 A) on Foxeer's bench.

  • Semi-hollow titanium shaft

A 4 mm semi-hollow titanium shaft, which Foxeer says cuts weight while keeping the motor strong, with a 5 mm threaded end for the prop.

What to pair it with

Our reading of Foxeer’s numbers, so your build matches what the motor was tested with.

ESC
Foxeer's max current is 42.8 A, on the GF7042 at 24 V; on its other props it drew 25.4–40.1 A at full throttle. A 45 A ESC covers it. (Foxeer spec sheet)
Props
Foxeer tested it on the GF6042, GF7042, DAL7040×2, DAL F7×3 and DAL7056×3. At 24 V it pulled the most on the DAL7056×3 (2,587 g) and the DAL F7×3 (2,255 g). (Foxeer spec sheet)
Battery
4S–6S; Foxeer tested it at 21 V and 24 V. (Foxeer spec sheet)
Frame
Four M3 holes on a 19 × 19 mm pattern. (Foxeer spec sheet)

Bench data

Redrawn from Foxeer’s test reports. Thrust is static pull on a bench, more than you get in flight. Power is volts × amps; efficiency is thrust divided by power.

Inside the motor

A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:

  • Shaft. Semi-hollow titanium, 4 mm, with a 5 mm threaded end for the prop. (Foxeer spec sheet)
  • Stator. 12N14P, 28 × 6.5 mm, with a single-wrap winding of single-crystal oxygen-free copper in 260 °C wire. (Foxeer spec sheet)

How fast it spins

KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 1350KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.

BatteryVoltsNo-load rpm (KV × V)Electrical frequencyESC steps per second
4S nominal14.819,9802,331 Hz13,986
4S full16.822,6802,646 Hz15,876
6S nominal22.229,9703,497 Hz20,979
6S full25.234,0203,969 Hz23,814

A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.

About the 3D model

A generic outrunner drawn from Foxeer’s published sizes: the 28 × 6.5 mm stator, 34.3 mm bell, 18.8 mm height, 5 mm shaft, 19 mm mounting circle and 12 teeth and 14 magnets. Anything Foxeer doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
