Drone Motors

7-inch long-range FPV motor

Foxeer Datura 2806.5

A 28 × 6.5 mm, 46 g motor for 7-inch quads, 1350KV or 1750KV for 4S–6S, that pulled 1.8–2.6 kg at full throttle on 6- and 7-inch props on Foxeer's 24 V bench (1350KV).

  • 6- and 7-inch quads
  • 4S–6S
  • 19 × 19 mm M3 motor mounts
Drawing the 3D model…

The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 2806.5 motor drawn from Foxeer’s published sizes, not its exact design. Thrust, current and power are Foxeer’s bench figures for the DAL7056×3 prop at 24 V, read straight across between its throttle steps. Its data starts at 50% throttle.

At 60% with the DAL7056×3: 1,307 g of thrust, 15.1 A, 361 W, 4.28 g per watt.

On your quad

15.9 : 1

Thrust to weight at full throttle: four motors pull 10,348 g with the DAL7056×3 at 24 V.

At 60% throttle they pull 5,228 g, 8.0 times the quad’s weight.

All-up weight is the quad ready to fly, with its battery and camera. The thrust is the maker’s static bench figure; in the air it is lower.

What you get for $32.49

  • Up to 2.7 kg of pull

    At full throttle on a DAL7056×3, the 1350KV pulled 2,587 g at 24 V (40.1 A) and the 1750KV 2,711 g at 21 V (55.4 A) on Foxeer's bench.

What to pair it with

Our reading of Foxeer’s numbers, so your build matches what the motor was tested with.

ESC
Foxeer's max currents are 42.8 A for the 1350KV (GF7042 at 24 V) and 59.8 A for the 1750KV (GF7042 at 21 V). A 45 A ESC covers the 1350KV on every prop Foxeer tested; the 1750KV wants 60 A. (Foxeer spec sheets)
Props
Foxeer tested both KVs on 6- and 7-inch props. The 1350KV pulled the most on the DAL7056×3 (2,587 g at 24 V) and the DAL F7×3 (2,255 g at 24 V); the 1750KV on the DAL7056×3 (2,711 g at 21 V) and the DAL7×3 (2,419 g at 21 V). (Foxeer spec sheets)
Battery
4S–6S for both KVs. Foxeer tested the 1350KV at 21 V and 24 V, and the 1750KV mostly at 21 V, with runs at 16 V and 24 V. (Foxeer spec sheets)
Frame
Four M3 holes on a 19 × 19 mm pattern. (Foxeer spec sheets)

Bench data

Redrawn from Foxeer’s test reports. Thrust is static pull on a bench, more than you get in flight. Power is volts × amps; efficiency is thrust divided by power.

Inside the motor

A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:

  • Shaft. Semi-hollow titanium, 4 mm, with a 5 mm threaded end for the prop. (Foxeer spec sheets)
  • Stator. 12N14P, 28 × 6.5 mm, with a single-wrap winding of single-crystal oxygen-free copper in 260 °C wire. (Foxeer spec sheets)

How fast it spins

KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 1350KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.

BatteryVoltsNo-load rpm (KV × V)Electrical frequencyESC steps per second
4S nominal14.819,9802,331 Hz13,986
4S full16.822,6802,646 Hz15,876
6S nominal22.229,9703,497 Hz20,979
6S full25.234,0203,969 Hz23,814

A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.

About the 3D model

A generic outrunner drawn from Foxeer’s published sizes: the 28 × 6.5 mm stator, 34.3 mm bell, 18.8 mm height, 5 mm shaft, 19 mm mounting circle and 12 teeth and 14 magnets. Anything Foxeer doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
