3–3.5-inch FPV motor

Foxeer Datura 1507

A 15 × 7 mm, 16.5 g motor for 3- to 3.5-inch quads, 2750KV for 4S–6S or 4150KV for 3S–4S, that pulled 711–782 g at full throttle on an HQ 3×4×3 on Foxeer's bench (4150KV at 14.8 V, 2750KV at 22.2 V).

  • 3- to 3.5-inch quads
  • 6S (2750KV) or 4S (4150KV)
  • 12 × 12 mm M2 motor mounts
Drawing the 3D model…

The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 1507 motor drawn from Foxeer’s published sizes, not its exact design. Thrust, current and power are Foxeer’s bench figures for the HQ 4×3×3 prop at 22.2 V, read straight across between its throttle steps. Its data starts at 50% throttle.

Version

Foxeer tested it at 14.8 V and 22.2 V.

At 60% with the HQ 4×3×3: 598 g of thrust, 7.5 A, 166 W, 4.26 g per watt.

On your quad

6.9 : 1

Thrust to weight at full throttle: four motors pull 4,492 g with the HQ 4×3×3 at 22.2 V.

At 60% throttle they pull 2,393 g, 3.7 times the quad’s weight.

All-up weight is the quad ready to fly, with its battery and camera. The thrust is the maker’s static bench figure; in the air it is lower.

What you get

  • About 1.1 kg on a 4-inch prop

    At full throttle on an HQ 4×3×3, the 2750KV pulled 1,123 g at 22.2 V (19.3 A) and the 4150KV 1,034 g at 14.8 V (23.5 A) on Foxeer's bench.

What to pair it with

Our reading of Foxeer’s numbers, so your build matches what the motor was tested with.

ESC
Foxeer's max currents are 19.3 A for the 2750KV (22.2 V) and 23.5 A for the 4150KV (14.8 V), both on the HQ 4×3×3 and the highest draws on its bench. A 25 A ESC covers both. (Foxeer spec sheets)
Props
Foxeer tested both KVs on the HQ 3×4×3, the GF D75, the HQ 4×3×3 and the DAL T5126. On the HQ 3×4×3 the 2750KV pulled 782 g at 22.2 V and the 4150KV 711 g at 14.8 V; on the HQ 4×3×3, 1,123 g and 1,034 g. (Foxeer spec sheets)
Battery
4S–6S for the 2750KV, tested at 14.8 V and 22.2 V; 3S–4S for the 4150KV, tested at 11.1 V and 14.8 V. (Foxeer spec sheets)
Frame
Four M2 holes on a 12 × 12 mm pattern. (Foxeer spec sheets)

Bench data

Redrawn from Foxeer’s test reports. Thrust is static pull on a bench, more than you get in flight. Power is volts × amps; efficiency is thrust divided by power.

Inside the motor

A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:

  • Shaft. 2 mm, with a 5 mm threaded end for the prop. (Foxeer spec sheets)
  • Stator. 9N12P, 15 × 7 mm, with a single-wrap winding of single-crystal oxygen-free copper in 260 °C wire. (Foxeer spec sheets)

How fast it spins

KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 2750KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.

BatteryVoltsNo-load rpm (KV × V)Electrical frequencyESC steps per second
4S nominal14.840,7004,070 Hz24,420
4S full16.846,2004,620 Hz27,720
6S nominal22.261,0506,105 Hz36,630
6S full25.269,3006,930 Hz41,580

A 12-pole rotor has 6 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 6 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 36 times per turn.

About the 3D model

A generic outrunner drawn from Foxeer’s published sizes: the 15 × 7 mm stator, 20.7 mm bell, 16.4 mm height, 5 mm shaft, 12 mm mounting circle and 9 teeth and 12 magnets. Anything Foxeer doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
