Drawing the 3D model…

The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 1002 motor drawn from Flywoo’s published sizes, not its exact design. Thrust, current and power are Flywoo’s bench figures for the GF2015R*2 prop at 3.7 V, read straight across between its throttle steps. Its data starts at 50% throttle.

At 60% with the GF2015R*2: 54 g of thrust, 5.0 A, 18 W, 3.18 g per watt.

On your quad

0.6 : 1

Thrust to weight at full throttle: four motors pull 372 g with the GF2015R*2 at 3.7 V.

At 60% throttle they pull 215 g, 0.3 times the quad’s weight.

All-up weight is the quad ready to fly, with its battery and camera. The thrust is the maker’s static bench figure; in the air it is lower.

What you get for $12.99

  • Two bearings

Flywoo says the new dual-bearing structure holds the shaft steadier, with less noise and vibration.

What to pair it with

Our reading of Flywoo’s numbers, so your build matches what the motor was tested with.

ESC
On Flywoo's 3.7 V bench the 23500KV draws 7.9–14 A at full throttle depending on the prop, the 19800KV 6.6–11.8 A. Flywoo marks both Gemfan 2023 runs as hot (84 °C and 80 °C after 3 s). (Flywoo 19800KV data, Flywoo 23500KV data)
Props
Flywoo tested Gemfan 1610 two-blade, 1635 three- and four-blade, 2015 two-blade and 2023 three-blade props. With the 2015 the 23500KV reaches 93 g. (Flywoo 19800KV data, Flywoo 23500KV data)

Frame
Three M1.4 screws on a 6.6 mm circle; M1.4×3 screws come with each motor. (Flywoo product page, Flywoo drawing)

Bench data

Redrawn from Flywoo’s test reports. Thrust is static pull on a bench, more than you get in flight. Power is volts × amps; efficiency is thrust divided by power.

Inside the motor

A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:

  • Bell. 7075 aluminium, anodised in two colours: a purple bell with a gold top on the 23500KV, a gold bell with a purple top on the 19800KV. Eight spokes on the top. (Flywoo product photo)
  • Bearings. Two bearings, which Flywoo says keep the shaft from moving. (Flywoo product page)
  • Stator. 10 mm across and 2 mm tall, 9 slots, with 12 magnet poles in the bell. (Flywoo product page)
  • Leads. Soldered to pads on the base, 30 mm long with a 3-pin plug. (Flywoo lead image)

How fast it spins

KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 23500KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.

BatteryVoltsNo-load rpm (KV × V)Electrical frequencyESC steps per second
4S nominal14.8347,80034,780 Hz208,680
4S full16.8394,80039,480 Hz236,880
6S nominal22.2521,70052,170 Hz313,020
6S full25.2592,20059,220 Hz355,320

A 12-pole rotor has 6 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 6 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 36 times per turn.

About the 3D model

A generic outrunner drawn from Flywoo’s published sizes: the 10 × 2 mm stator, 13.5 mm bell, 7.75 mm height, 1.5 mm shaft, 6.6 mm mounting circle and 9 teeth and 12 magnets. Anything Flywoo doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
