Ultralight 4- to 7-inch toothpick and long-range FPV motor

Flywoo NIN 2303.5

A 21.5 g ultralight motor that Flywoo pitches for 4- to 5-inch toothpicks and 6- to 7-inch long range; on its 24 V bench the 1750KV pulls 1,355 g on an HQ 6 × 2.5 three-blade.

  • Ultralight 4- to 5-inch toothpicks and 6- to 7-inch long range; Flywoo also names 3-inch cinewhoops
  • 5S–6S (1750KV) or 3S–4S (3000KV)
  • Gemfan D90 and 5- to 6-inch props
Drawing the 3D model…

The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 2303.5 motor drawn from Flywoo’s published sizes, not its exact design. Thrust, current and power are Flywoo’s bench figures for the HQ T6x2.5x3 prop at 24 V, read straight across between its throttle steps. Its data starts at 50% throttle.

At 60% with the HQ T6x2.5x3: 709 g of thrust, 8.7 A, 208 W, 4.14 g per watt.

On your quad

8.3 : 1

Thrust to weight at full throttle: four motors pull 5,420 g with the HQ T6x2.5x3 at 24 V.

At 60% throttle they pull 2,838 g, 4.4 times the quad’s weight.

All-up weight is the quad ready to fly, with its battery and camera. The thrust is the maker’s static bench figure; in the air it is lower.

ESC
Flywoo gives max currents of 23.3 A (1750KV) and 41 A (3000KV), each the full-throttle current with the HQ 6 × 2.5 three-blade on its bench (24 V and 16 V). It marks those runs as hot after 3 s (82 °C and 85 °C). (Flywoo product page, Flywoo 1750KV data, Flywoo 3000KV data)
Props
Flywoo tested the Gemfan D90, Gemfan 5125, 5126, 5130 and 6026, and HQ 5 × 3 and 6 × 2.5 three-blade props. The 3000KV pulls 1,389 g on the HQ 6 × 2.5 at 16 V. (Flywoo 1750KV data, Flywoo 3000KV data)
Battery
5S–6S for the 1750KV, 3S–4S for the 3000KV. (Flywoo product page)
Frame

Bench data

Redrawn from Flywoo’s test reports. Thrust is static pull on a bench, more than you get in flight. Power is volts × amps; efficiency is thrust divided by power.

Inside the motor

A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:

How fast it spins

KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 1750KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.

BatteryVoltsNo-load rpm (KV × V)Electrical frequencyESC steps per second
4S nominal14.825,9003,022 Hz18,130
4S full16.829,4003,430 Hz20,580
6S nominal22.238,8504,533 Hz27,195
6S full25.244,1005,145 Hz30,870

A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.

About the 3D model

A generic outrunner drawn from Flywoo’s published sizes: the 23 × 3.5 mm stator, 29.09 mm bell, 13.5 mm height, 1.5 mm shaft, 12 mm mounting circle and 12 teeth and 14 magnets. Anything Flywoo doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
