5-inch FPV freestyle motor
FlyFish Flash 2306
A 5-inch freestyle motor: 2306 stator in a one-piece 7075 aluminium bell, NMB bearings and N52SH magnets, and 1,698.7 g of pull per motor on FlyFishRC’s 24 V bench (1750KV, HQ S5).
- 5-inch freestyle
- 6S (1750KV) or 4S (2550KV)
- 5-inch props
The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 2306 motor drawn from FlyFish’s published sizes, not its exact design. Thrust, current and power are FlyFish’s bench figures for the HQ S5 prop at 24 V, read straight across between its throttle steps. Its data starts at 50% throttle.
- Max thrust
- 1,699 g
- HQ S5 prop, 24 V
- Weight
- 34.6 g
- with 150 mm leads, from the spec sheet; 2550KV 34.2 g. The product pages give 40 g (grey and purple) and 41 g (black), each with 150 mm wires.
- Peak current
- 38.2 A
- full throttle
- Max power
- 896 W

What it pulls
FlyFish’s own bench test, one line per prop. Drag across the chart to move the throttle; the model above follows.
At 60% with the HQ S5: 794 g of thrust, 14.7 A, 351 W, 2.26 g per watt.
On your quad
10.5 : 1
Thrust to weight at full throttle: four motors pull 6,795 g with the HQ S5 at 24 V.
At 60% throttle they pull 3,174 g, 4.9 times the quad’s weight.
All-up weight is the quad ready to fly, with its battery and camera. The thrust is the maker’s static bench figure; in the air it is lower.
What you get for $20.90
1.7 kg on 6S
On FlyFishRC’s 24 V bench the 1750KV pulled 1,698.7 g at full throttle on an HQ S5, drawing 38.23 A; on 16 V the 2550KV pulled 1,456.5 g on a GF 51466.

One-piece 7075 bell
FlyFishRC’s Uni-Bell is one piece of 7075 aluminium with a frosted matte finish; it says the design adds crash resistance without adding weight.
NMB bearings, N52SH magnets
NMB 9 × 4 × 4 mm bearings, N52SH magnets, and copper wire rated to 220 °C.

Braced lead exit
FlyFishRC thickened the base and added braces where the wires leave it, and gave the prop seat a non-slip shape.
What to pair it with
Our reading of FlyFish’s numbers, so your build matches what the motor was tested with.
- ESC
- FlyFishRC gives a 10-second peak of 38.23 A for the 1750KV on 24 V and 47.50 A for the 2550KV on 16 V. A 45 A ESC covers the 1750KV; the 2550KV needs 50 A. (FlyFishRC spec sheet)
- Props
- 5-inch props. On 24 V the 1750KV pulled 1,698.7 g on an HQ S5 and 1,687.4 g on a GF 51466 at full throttle; on 16 V the 2550KV pulled 1,432.7 g and 1,456.5 g on the same two props. (FlyFishRC spec sheet)
- Battery
- 6S for the 1750KV, 4S for the 2550KV. (FlyFishRC product page (grey and purple), FlyFishRC product page (black), FlyFishRC spec sheet)

Inside the motor
A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:
- Bell. One piece of 7075 aluminium (FlyFishRC’s Uni-Bell), φ29.4 mm, in a grey and purple or black matte finish. (FlyFishRC product page (grey and purple), FlyFishRC product page (black), FlyFishRC spec sheet)
- Shaft. 5 mm titanium alloy (steel on the black version) with an M5 thread; it stands 13.5 mm above the bell, 8 mm of it threaded. (FlyFishRC product page (grey and purple), FlyFishRC product page (black), FlyFishRC spec sheet)
- Magnets. N52SH, which FlyFishRC describes as heat resistant. (FlyFishRC product page (grey and purple))
- Stator. 23 × 6 mm with 12 slots, wound with copper wire rated to 220 °C. (FlyFishRC product page (grey and purple))
- Bearings. NMB L-940ZZ, 9 × 4 × 4 mm, sold by FlyFishRC as replacements for the Flash 2207 and 2306. (FlyFishRC replacement bearing)
- Base. Thickened, with braces protecting the lead exit, and four M3 holes on a 16 mm circle. (FlyFishRC product page (grey and purple), FlyFishRC spec sheet)
How fast it spins
KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 1750KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.
| Battery | Volts | No-load rpm (KV × V) | Electrical frequency | ESC steps per second |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4S nominal | 14.8 | 25,900 | 3,022 Hz | 18,130 |
| 4S full | 16.8 | 29,400 | 3,430 Hz | 20,580 |
| 6S nominal | 22.2 | 38,850 | 4,533 Hz | 27,195 |
| 6S full | 25.2 | 44,100 | 5,145 Hz | 30,870 |
A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.
About the 3D model
A generic outrunner drawn from FlyFish’s published sizes: the 23 × 6 mm stator, 29.4 mm bell, 18.3 mm height, 5 mm shaft, 16 mm mounting circle and 12 teeth and 14 magnets. Anything FlyFish doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
