3- to 3.5-inch FPV motor

FlyFish Flash 1804

A 1804 that FlyFishRC designed for 3.5-inch frames: 18 × 4 mm stator, one-piece 7075 bell, 14 g with leads, and 695 g of pull per motor on a 4-inch tri-blade on its 24 V bench (2450KV).

  • 3- to 4-inch tri-blade props
Drawing the 3D model…

The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 1804 motor drawn from FlyFish’s published sizes, not its exact design. Thrust, current and power are FlyFish’s bench figures for the HQ T4 × 2.5 × 3 prop at 24 V, read straight across between its throttle steps. Its data starts at 50% throttle.

Version

FlyFishRC tested it at about 24 V on an HQ T4 × 2.5 × 3 and an HQ 76 mm tri-blade.

At 60% with the HQ T4 × 2.5 × 3: 366 g of thrust, 5.8 A, 141 W, 2.59 g per watt.

On your quad

4.3 : 1

Thrust to weight at full throttle: four motors pull 2,780 g with the HQ T4 × 2.5 × 3 at 24 V.

At 60% throttle they pull 1,462 g, 2.2 times the quad’s weight.

All-up weight is the quad ready to fly, with its battery and camera. The thrust is the maker’s static bench figure; in the air it is lower.

ESC
FlyFishRC’s 10-second peaks are 15.48 A (2450KV on 6S) and 20.73 A (3500KV on 4S); an ESC rated above those covers either version. (FlyFishRC datasheet)
Props
On about 24 V the 2450KV pulled 694.9 g on an HQ T4 × 2.5 × 3 and 585.1 g on an HQ 76 mm tri-blade; on about 16 V the 3500KV pulled 651.3 g and 553.55 g. (FlyFishRC datasheet)
Battery
6S for the 2450KV, 4S for the 3500KV. (FlyFishRC product page)
Frame
Four M2 holes on a 12 mm circle (12 × 12 mm); FlyFishRC designed it for 3.5-inch frames. A hardware set comes in the box. (FlyFishRC product page, FlyFishRC datasheet)

Inside the motor

A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:

How fast it spins

KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 2450KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.

BatteryVoltsNo-load rpm (KV × V)Electrical frequencyESC steps per second
4S nominal14.836,2604,230 Hz25,382
4S full16.841,1604,802 Hz28,812
6S nominal22.254,3906,346 Hz38,073
6S full25.261,7407,203 Hz43,218

A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.

About the 3D model

A generic outrunner drawn from FlyFish’s published sizes: the 18 × 4 mm stator, 23.8 mm bell, 13.5 mm height, 1.5 mm shaft, 12 mm mounting circle and 12 teeth and 14 magnets. Anything FlyFish doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
