75 mm tiny whoop motor

EMAX TH0802

EMAX’s 0802 motor for the Tinyhawk family: an 8 × 2 mm stator, 2.2 g, props that press on over the bell, 1S or 2S, in 16000KV (Tinyhawk II) and 15500KV (Tinyhawk S).

  • Tinyhawk II, Tinyhawk S and the original Tinyhawk
  • 1S or 2S
  • Avan Turtlemode 4-blade props
Drawing the 3D model…

The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 0802 motor drawn from EMAX’s published sizes, not its exact design. No-load speed is KV × 7.4 V, a nominal pack for this version. EMAX publishes no bench data for it.

Version

The Tinyhawk II motor; EMAX also sells it as an upgrade for the original Tinyhawk and the Tinyhawk S.

Props
On the Tinyhawk II EMAX fits Avan Turtlemode 4-blade props, which press on over the bell. (EMAX Tinyhawk II page)
Battery
The Tinyhawk II ships with a 1S 450 mAh HV pack and a 2S 300 mAh HV pack; EMAX says 1S flies longer and 2S gives the most performance. (EMAX Tinyhawk II page)
ESC
On the Tinyhawk II, four of these run from a 5 A 4-in-1 BLHeli_S ESC. (EMAX Tinyhawk II page)

Inside the motor

A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:

How fast it spins

KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 16000KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.

BatteryVoltsNo-load rpm (KV × V)Electrical frequencyESC steps per second
4S nominal14.8236,80023,680 Hz142,080
4S full16.8268,80026,880 Hz161,280
6S nominal22.2355,20035,520 Hz213,120
6S full25.2403,20040,320 Hz241,920

A 12-pole rotor has 6 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 6 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 36 times per turn.

About the 3D model

A generic outrunner drawn from EMAX’s published sizes: the 8 × 2 mm stator and 1.5 mm shaft. Anything EMAX doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
