A 5-inch motor with an LED-lit base: 2306 stator, 12N14P, N52 arc magnets and EZO bearings, 31.6 g without leads; 1700KV for 3S–6S or 2400KV for 3S–4S.

  • 5-inch freestyle and racing
  • 5 to 5.5-inch props
  • 3S–6S (1700KV) or 3S–4S (2400KV)
Drawing the 3D model…

The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 2306 motor drawn from EMAX’s published sizes, not its exact design. No-load speed is KV × 22.2 V, a nominal pack for this version. EMAX publishes no bench data for it.

Version

Rated for 3S–6S on 5 to 5.5-inch props on EMAX USA’s 1700KV page; EMAX’s global page gives 3S–4S.

Weight
31.6 g
without leads; EMAX USA’s 1700KV page gives 31.7 g, the figure on its Pulsar 2207 pages

What you get

What to pair it with

Our reading of EMAX’s numbers, so your build matches what the motor was tested with.

Props
5 to 5.5-inch props for both KVs, per EMAX. (EMAX USA product page (1700KV), EMAX USA product page (2400KV), EMAX product page)
Battery
3S–6S for the 1700KV and 3S–4S for the 2400KV, per EMAX USA’s pages. EMAX publishes no current or thrust figures, so there is no bench guide to the ESC. (EMAX USA product page (1700KV), EMAX USA product page (2400KV))
Frame
A 16 × 16 mm mount; M3 screws in 6 and 7 mm lengths come in the box. (EMAX USA product page (2400KV), EMAX product page)

Inside the motor

A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:

How fast it spins

KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 1700KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.

BatteryVoltsNo-load rpm (KV × V)Electrical frequencyESC steps per second
4S nominal14.825,1602,935 Hz17,612
4S full16.828,5603,332 Hz19,992
6S nominal22.237,7404,403 Hz26,418
6S full25.242,8404,998 Hz29,988

A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.

About the 3D model

A generic outrunner drawn from EMAX’s published sizes: the 23 × 6 mm stator, 27.7 mm bell, 5 mm shaft, 16 mm mounting circle and 12 teeth and 14 magnets. Anything EMAX doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
