8- to 10-inch FPV heavy-lift motor

EMAX Pro 2814

A 79.5 g heavy-lift motor for 8 to 10-inch props: 2814 stator, N52UH magnets, an M5 shaft on a 19 × 19 mm M3 base, and up to 4,020 g of pull per motor on EMAX’s 6S bench (830KV, AVIA 1050).

  • 8 to 10-inch heavy lift and long range
  • 9 to 10-inch props (730KV)
  • 8 to 9-inch props (830KV)
  • 6S
Drawing the 3D model…

The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 2814 motor drawn from EMAX’s published sizes, not its exact design. No-load speed is KV × 22.2 V, a nominal pack for this version. EMAX’s bench tables for it step by thrust rather than throttle, so they are in the bench data below, not on this readout.

Version

Rated for 3S–6S, for 8 to 9-inch props; EMAX tested it at 25.2 V on three 9-inch and two 10-inch three-blades.

  • 4 kg on 6S

    On EMAX’s 25.2 V bench the 830KV pulled 4,020 g at full throttle on an AVIA 1050 three-blade, drawing 62.4 A; the 730KV pulled 3,460 g on the same prop at 46.6 A.

  • 6.74 g/W at 370 g

    Making 370 g of thrust on an AVIA 1050 at 25.2 V, the 730KV ran at 6.74 g/W.

  • Rated for 180 °C

EMAX uses N52UH magnets and AIW wire rated for 220 °C, and rates the motor for 180 °C, with 200 °C as its maximum.

What to pair it with

Our reading of EMAX’s numbers, so your build matches what the motor was tested with.

ESC
EMAX rates the peak current on 6S at 48 A (730KV) and 63 A (830KV); on its bench the 830KV drew 62.4 A at full throttle on an AVIA 1050 and the 730KV 47.4 A on an HQ 1050. A 50 A ESC covers the 730KV; the 830KV needs one rated for at least 65 A. (EMAX spec sheet, EMAX 730KV thrust tables, EMAX 830KV thrust tables)
Props
9 to 10-inch for the 730KV and 8 to 9-inch for the 830KV. On 6S the 730KV pulled 2,760–3,460 g at full throttle on five 9 and 10-inch props, and the 830KV 3,190–4,020 g, most on the 10-inch ones. (EMAX spec sheet, EMAX 730KV thrust tables, EMAX 830KV thrust tables)
Battery
6S: EMAX rates both KVs for 3S–6S, gives their peak figures on 6S and tested them at 25.2 V. (EMAX spec sheet, EMAX 730KV thrust tables, EMAX 830KV thrust tables)
Frame
Four M3 holes on a 19 mm circle (19 × 19 mm). (EMAX spec sheet)

Bench data

Redrawn from EMAX’s test reports. Thrust is static pull on a bench, more than you get in flight. Power is volts × amps; efficiency is thrust divided by power.

Inside the motor

A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:

How fast it spins

KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 830KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.

BatteryVoltsNo-load rpm (KV × V)Electrical frequencyESC steps per second
4S nominal14.812,2841,433 Hz8,599
4S full16.813,9441,627 Hz9,761
6S nominal22.218,4262,150 Hz12,898
6S full25.220,9162,440 Hz14,641

A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.

About the 3D model

A generic outrunner drawn from EMAX’s published sizes: the 28 × 14 mm stator, 33.2 mm bell, 28.95 mm height, 5 mm shaft, 19 mm mounting circle and 12 teeth and 14 magnets. Anything EMAX doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
