5-inch FPV freestyle motor
EMAX FS2306
A 5-inch freestyle motor: 2306 stator, 7075 aluminium bell, hollow steel shaft, 28.6 g without leads; EMAX rates the 1700KV at 37.2 A and 937.4 W peak on 6S.
- 5-inch freestyle
- 6S (1700KV) or 4S (2400KV)
- 5 to 5.5-inch props
The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 2306 motor drawn from EMAX’s published sizes, not its exact design. No-load speed is KV × 22.2 V, a nominal pack for this version. EMAX publishes no bench data for it.
- Weight
- 28.6 g
- without leads; 2400KV 28.7 g

What to pair it with
Our reading of EMAX’s numbers, so your build matches what the motor was tested with.
- ESC
- EMAX rates the peak current at 37.2 A for the 1700KV on 6S and 44.3 A for the 2400KV on 4S; a 45 A ESC covers both. (EMAX spec sheet)
- Props
- 5 to 5.5-inch props for both KVs. (EMAX spec sheet)
- Battery
- 6S for the 1700KV (rated 3S–6S) and 4S for the 2400KV (rated 3S–4S); EMAX gives their peak figures on those packs. (EMAX spec sheet)
- Frame
- Four M3 holes on a 16 mm circle (16 × 16 mm). (EMAX spec sheet)

Inside the motor
A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:
- Shaft. Hollow steel, M5 thread (9 mm of thread), stands 13 mm above the bell; 4 mm through the bearings. (EMAX spec sheet, EMAX USA product page (1700KV))
- Bell. 7075 aluminium. (EMAX USA product page (1700KV))
- Magnets. N25SH arc magnets (as EMAX writes it on both pages; N25SH is not a usual magnet grade, and EMAX’s other motors use N52 or N52SH). (EMAX USA product page (1700KV), EMAX USA product page (2400KV))
- Stator. The coils are wound on a stack of thin steel laminations: 23 × 6 mm (2306). (EMAX USA product page (1700KV), EMAX product page)
- Winding. Multi-strand. (EMAX USA product page (1700KV), EMAX USA product page (2400KV))
- Bearings. EZO 9 × 4 × 4 mm. (EMAX USA product page (1700KV), EMAX USA product page (2400KV))
- Base. 4 × M3 holes on a 16 mm circle (16 × 16 mm). (EMAX spec sheet)
How fast it spins
KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 1700KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.
| Battery | Volts | No-load rpm (KV × V) | Electrical frequency | ESC steps per second |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4S nominal | 14.8 | 25,160 | 2,935 Hz | 17,612 |
| 4S full | 16.8 | 28,560 | 3,332 Hz | 19,992 |
| 6S nominal | 22.2 | 37,740 | 4,403 Hz | 26,418 |
| 6S full | 25.2 | 42,840 | 4,998 Hz | 29,988 |
A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.
About the 3D model
A generic outrunner drawn from EMAX’s published sizes: the 23 × 6 mm stator, 27.8 mm bell, 18.2 mm height, 5 mm shaft, 16 mm mounting circle and 12 teeth and 14 magnets. Anything EMAX doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
