5- to 6-inch FPV freestyle motor
EMAX FS2208
A 2208 freestyle motor for 5 to 6-inch props on 4S: 2500KV, 12N14P, 7075 aluminium bell, 34.7 g without leads, rated by EMAX at 55.6 A and 934.1 W peak on 4S.
- 5 to 6-inch freestyle
- 4S
The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 2208 motor drawn from EMAX’s published sizes, not its exact design. No-load speed is KV × 14.8 V, a nominal pack for this version. EMAX publishes no bench data for it.
- Weight
- 34.7 g
- without leads; EMAX USA’s page gives 34.3 g

What you get
55.6 A peak on 4S
EMAX rates the 2500KV at 55.6 A and 934.1 W peak on 4S, with 36 mΩ of internal resistance.

A taller stator
EMAX says the 8 mm-tall 2208 stator gives more torque than a 2206.

What to pair it with
Our reading of EMAX’s numbers, so your build matches what the motor was tested with.
- ESC
- EMAX rates the peak current at 55.6 A on 4S; a 60 A ESC covers it. (EMAX spec sheet)
- Props
- 5 to 6-inch props, per EMAX. (EMAX spec sheet, EMAX USA product page)
- Battery
- 4S: EMAX’s spec sheet rates the 2500KV for 3S–4S and gives its peak figures on 4S; its US page says 3S–5S. (EMAX spec sheet, EMAX USA product page)
- Frame
- Four M3 holes on a 16 mm circle (16 × 16 mm); M3 screws in 6 and 7 mm lengths come in the box. (EMAX spec sheet, EMAX USA product page)

Inside the motor
A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:
- Shaft. Hollow steel, M5 thread (CW, 9 mm of thread), stands 13 mm above the bell; 4 mm through the bearings. (EMAX spec sheet, EMAX USA product page)
- Bell. 7075 aluminium. (EMAX USA product page)
- Magnets. N25SH arc magnets (as EMAX writes it; N25SH is not a usual magnet grade, and EMAX’s other motors use N52 or N52SH). (EMAX USA product page)
- Stator. The coils are wound on a stack of thin steel laminations: 22 × 8 mm (2208). (EMAX USA product page, EMAX product page)
- Winding. Multi-strand. (EMAX USA product page)
- Bearings. EZO 9 × 4 × 4 mm. (EMAX USA product page)
- Base. 4 × M3 holes on a 16 mm circle (16 × 16 mm). (EMAX spec sheet, EMAX USA product page)
How fast it spins
KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 2500KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.
| Battery | Volts | No-load rpm (KV × V) | Electrical frequency | ESC steps per second |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4S nominal | 14.8 | 37,000 | 4,317 Hz | 25,900 |
| 4S full | 16.8 | 42,000 | 4,900 Hz | 29,400 |
| 6S nominal | 22.2 | 55,500 | 6,475 Hz | 38,850 |
| 6S full | 25.2 | 63,000 | 7,350 Hz | 44,100 |
A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.
About the 3D model
A generic outrunner drawn from EMAX’s published sizes: the 22 × 8 mm stator, 27.45 mm bell, 20.6 mm height, 5 mm shaft, 16 mm mounting circle and 12 teeth and 14 magnets. Anything EMAX doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
