Drone Motors

7-inch FPV long-range motor

EMAX ECO II 2807

A 7-inch motor for long range, freestyle and heavier lifting: 2807 stator, N52SH magnets, 47.6 g without leads, and up to 2,640 g of pull per motor on EMAX’s 6S bench (1300KV).

  • 7-inch long range and freestyle
  • 6S (1300KV), 5S (1500KV) or 4S (1700KV)
  • 6 to 7-inch props
Drawing the 3D model…

The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 2807 motor drawn from EMAX’s published sizes, not its exact design. No-load speed is KV × 22.2 V, a nominal pack for this version. EMAX’s bench tables for it step by thrust rather than throttle, so they are in the bench data below, not on this readout.

What you get for $19.49

  • 2.6 kg of pull on 6S

    On EMAX’s 25.2 V bench the 1300KV pulled 2,640 g at full throttle on an HQ 7 × 4 × 3, drawing 51.2 A.

    Source: EMAX 1300KV thrust tables

  • Over 5 g/W at 300 g

Making 300 g of thrust on 6S, the 1300KV ran at 5.18 to 5.67 g/W depending on the prop.

  • Bigger bearings and mount

EZO 12 mm bearings, which EMAX says handle the higher loads of larger props, and a 19 × 19 mm mount sized for 7-inch frames.

  • N52SH arc magnets

Curved N52SH magnets. EMAX says the step up from N48 magnets gives more torque and thrust.

What to pair it with

Our reading of EMAX’s numbers, so your build matches what the motor was tested with.

ESC
EMAX rates the peak current at 52 A for the 1300KV on 6S, 58 A for the 1500KV on 5S and 52 A for the 1700KV on 4S; its bench tests reached 51.2 A, 57.1 A and 51.2 A. A 60 A or bigger ESC covers all three. (EMAX spec sheet, EMAX 1300KV thrust tables, EMAX 1500KV thrust tables, EMAX 1700KV thrust tables)
Props
EMAX lists 6 to 7-inch props and tested four 7-inch ones: the 2-blade Gemfan 7042 and the 3-blade Gemfan 7040, HQ 7 × 3.5 × 3 and HQ 7 × 4 × 3. On 6S the 1300KV pulled 2,190–2,640 g at full throttle, most on the HQ 7 × 4 × 3 and least on the 2-blade 7042. (EMAX spec sheet, EMAX 1300KV thrust tables)
Battery
6S for the 1300KV, 5S for the 1500KV, 4S for the 1700KV. EMAX rates them for 3S–6S, 3S–5S and 3S–4S. (EMAX spec sheet)
Frame
Four M3 holes on a 19 mm circle (19 × 19 mm, the pattern EMAX sizes for 7-inch frames). M3 screws in 8 and 10 mm lengths and an M5 nylock nut come in the box. (EMAX spec sheet, EMAX USA product page, EMAX product page)

Bench data

Redrawn from EMAX’s test reports. Thrust is static pull on a bench, more than you get in flight. Power is volts × amps; efficiency is thrust divided by power.

Inside the motor

A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:

How fast it spins

KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 1300KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.

BatteryVoltsNo-load rpm (KV × V)Electrical frequencyESC steps per second
4S nominal14.819,2402,245 Hz13,468
4S full16.821,8402,548 Hz15,288
6S nominal22.228,8603,367 Hz20,202
6S full25.232,7603,822 Hz22,932

A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.

About the 3D model

A generic outrunner drawn from EMAX’s published sizes: the 28 × 7 mm stator, 33.9 mm bell, 20 mm height, 5 mm shaft, 19 mm mounting circle and 12 teeth and 14 magnets. Anything EMAX doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
