5-inch FPV freestyle motor

EMAX ECO II 2207

A 5-inch racing and freestyle motor: 2207 stator, N52SH magnets, 33.6 g without leads, and up to 2,020 g of pull per motor on EMAX’s 6S bench (1900KV).

  • 5-inch racing and freestyle
  • 6S (1700KV, 1900KV) or 4S (2400KV)
  • 5 to 5.5-inch props
Drawing the 3D model…

The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 2207 motor drawn from EMAX’s published sizes, not its exact design. No-load speed is KV × 22.2 V, a nominal pack for this version. EMAX’s bench tables for it step by thrust rather than throttle, so they are in the bench data below, not on this readout.

What you get

  • About 2 kg of pull on 6S

    On EMAX’s 25.2 V bench the 1900KV pulled 2,020 g at full throttle on a DALPROP Cyclone 5046, drawing 40.6 A.

  • N52SH arc magnets

Curved N52SH magnets. EMAX says the step up from N48 magnets gives more torque and thrust and higher rpm.

  • Rounded, polished bell

EMAX redesigned the bell with a rounder shape and thicker reinforcements for durability, and finished it with a mirror polish.

  • EZO bearings

EZO 9 mm bearings carry a steel shaft with an M5 thread.

What to pair it with

Our reading of EMAX’s numbers, so your build matches what the motor was tested with.

ESC
EMAX rates the peak current at 45 A for the 1900KV and 38 A for the 1700KV on 6S, and 43 A for the 2400KV on 4S. Its own bench tests topped out at 43.8 A (1900KV, Cyclone 5050). A 45 A or bigger ESC covers all three. (EMAX spec sheet, EMAX 1900KV thrust tables)
Props
EMAX lists 5 to 5.5-inch props. On its 6S bench the 1900KV pulled 1,860–2,020 g at full throttle on six props, most on the DALPROP Cyclone 5046; the 1700KV pulled most on the HQ 5.5 × 4 × 3 (1,980 g). (EMAX spec sheet, EMAX 1700KV thrust tables, EMAX 1900KV thrust tables)
Battery
6S for the 1700KV and 1900KV, 4S for the 2400KV. EMAX rates the first two for 3S–6S and the 2400KV for 3S–4S. (EMAX spec sheet)
Frame
Four M3 holes on a 16 mm circle (16 × 16 mm, which EMAX says fits the most common 5-inch frames). M3 screws in 6, 7 and 8 mm lengths and an M5 nylock nut come in the box. (EMAX spec sheet, EMAX USA product page, EMAX product page)

Bench data

Redrawn from EMAX’s test reports. Thrust is static pull on a bench, more than you get in flight. Power is volts × amps; efficiency is thrust divided by power.

Inside the motor

A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:

How fast it spins

KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 1900KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.

BatteryVoltsNo-load rpm (KV × V)Electrical frequencyESC steps per second
4S nominal14.828,1203,281 Hz19,684
4S full16.831,9203,724 Hz22,344
6S nominal22.242,1804,921 Hz29,526
6S full25.247,8805,586 Hz33,516

A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.

About the 3D model

A generic outrunner drawn from EMAX’s published sizes: the 22 × 7 mm stator, 27.5 mm bell, 20.2 mm height, 5 mm shaft, 16 mm mounting circle and 12 teeth and 14 magnets. Anything EMAX doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
