5-inch FPV freestyle motor

EMAX E3 2207

A 5-inch racing and freestyle motor: 2207 stator, single-strand windings, N52SH magnets, 31.6 g without leads, and up to 1,800 g of pull per motor on EMAX’s 6S bench (1900KV).

  • 5-inch freestyle and racing
  • 6S (1700KV, 1900KV) or 4S (2400KV)
  • 5 to 5.5-inch props
Drawing the 3D model…

The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 2207 motor drawn from EMAX’s published sizes, not its exact design. No-load speed is KV × 22.2 V, a nominal pack for this version. EMAX’s bench tables for it step by thrust rather than throttle, so they are in the bench data below, not on this readout.

What you get for $15.99

  • 1.8 kg of pull on 6S

    On EMAX’s 25.2 V bench the 1900KV pulled 1,800 g at full throttle on an EMAX AVAN 5026, drawing 40.6 A.

  • 4.53 g/W at 210 g

    Making 210 g of thrust on 6S, the 1700KV ran at 4.53 g/W on the AVAN 5026.

  • Single-strand windings

EMAX winds the E3 series with single strands, which it says lowers electrical resistance and helps the motor shed heat.

  • 7075 aluminium, hardened steel shaft

EMAX says the E3 series uses 7075 aluminium to stand up to repeated crashes, with a hardened steel shaft, G1 bearings and N52SH arc magnets.

What to pair it with

Our reading of EMAX’s numbers, so your build matches what the motor was tested with.

ESC
EMAX rates the peak current at 42 A (1700KV) and 50 A (1900KV) on 6S, and 45 A (2400KV) on 4S. On its bench the 1900KV drew 40.6 A at full throttle. A 50 A ESC covers all three. (EMAX spec sheet, EMAX thrust tables)
Props
EMAX lists 5 to 5.5-inch props (5-inch for the 1900KV) and tested its own AVAN 5026 three-blade: 1,600 g (1700KV) and 1,800 g (1900KV) at full throttle on 6S, 1,300 g (2400KV) on 4S. (EMAX spec sheet, EMAX thrust tables)
Battery
6S for the 1700KV and 1900KV, which EMAX rates for 3S–6S and tested at 25.2 V; 4S for the 2400KV, rated for 3S–4S and tested at 16.8 V. (EMAX spec sheet, EMAX thrust tables)
Frame
Four M3 holes on a 16 mm circle (16 × 16 mm). (EMAX spec sheet)

Bench data

Redrawn from EMAX’s test reports. Thrust is static pull on a bench, more than you get in flight. Power is volts × amps; efficiency is thrust divided by power.

Inside the motor

A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:

How fast it spins

KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 1900KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.

BatteryVoltsNo-load rpm (KV × V)Electrical frequencyESC steps per second
4S nominal14.828,1203,281 Hz19,684
4S full16.831,9203,724 Hz22,344
6S nominal22.242,1804,921 Hz29,526
6S full25.247,8805,586 Hz33,516

A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.

About the 3D model

A generic outrunner drawn from EMAX’s published sizes: the 22 × 7 mm stator, 28.6 mm bell, 19.9 mm height, 5 mm shaft, 16 mm mounting circle and 12 teeth and 14 magnets. Anything EMAX doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
