5-inch FPV freestyle motor

DeepSpace Aether 2207.3

A 6S motor for 5-inch freestyle in 1960KV and 2050KV; on DeepSpace’s 24 V bench it pulls 1,806 to 1,909 g per motor at full throttle, depending on KV and prop.

  • 5-inch freestyle: flow, bando, chasing and cinematic flying, as DeepSpace lists
  • 6S
  • Props like DeepSpace’s test props: GF51433, GF51466 v2
Drawing the 3D model…

The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 2207.3 motor drawn from DeepSpace’s published sizes, not its exact design. Thrust, current and power are DeepSpace’s bench figures for the GF51433 prop at 24 V, read straight across between its throttle steps. Its data starts at 30% throttle.

At 60% with the GF51433: 908 g of thrust, 13.7 A, 329 W, 2.76 g per watt.

On your quad

11.4 : 1

Thrust to weight at full throttle: four motors pull 7,431 g with the GF51433 at 24 V.

At 60% throttle they pull 3,632 g, 5.6 times the quad’s weight.

All-up weight is the quad ready to fly, with its battery and camera. The thrust is the maker’s static bench figure; in the air it is lower.

What you get for $20.90

  • 1,909 g on a GF51433

    On DeepSpace’s bench the 2050KV pulled 1,909.1 g at full throttle on a GF51433 at 23.4 V, drawing 44.4 A; the 1960KV pulled 1,857.7 g on the same prop.

  • Titanium-alloy shaft

A titanium-alloy shaft with a curved top, which DeepSpace says doesn’t deform after impacts and keeps nut and prop changes easy; it says a spike on the top locks the prop.

  • Hollow top, curved magnets

A hollow top cover to save weight and shed heat, and curved magnets that DeepSpace says give more power and a faster response.

Inside the motor

A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:

How fast it spins

KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 1960KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.

BatteryVoltsNo-load rpm (KV × V)Electrical frequencyESC steps per second
4S nominal14.829,0083,384 Hz20,306
4S full16.832,9283,842 Hz23,050
6S nominal22.243,5125,076 Hz30,458
6S full25.249,3925,762 Hz34,574

A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.

About the 3D model

A generic outrunner drawn from DeepSpace’s published sizes: the 22 × 7.3 mm stator, 28.5 mm bell, 19.4 mm height, 5 mm shaft, 16 mm mounting circle and 12 teeth and 14 magnets. Anything DeepSpace doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
