3- to 3.5-inch FPV motor
BrotherHobby VY 1507
A 1507 for 3-inch props on 6S or 4S (3100KV, 4150KV) and 5-inch props at low KV (1550KV, 1900KV): 15 × 7 mm stator, 16.3 g, M5 shaft, and 879 g of pull per motor on a 3-inch tri-blade on BrotherHobby’s 24 V bench (3100KV).
- 3-inch quads (3100KV on 6S, 4150KV on 4S)
- 5-inch props at low KV (1550KV on 6S, 1900KV on 4S)
- 3-inch and 5-inch tri-blade props
The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 1507 motor drawn from BrotherHobby’s published sizes, not its exact design. Thrust, current and power are BrotherHobby’s bench figures for the HQ 3 × 4 × 3 prop at 24 V, read straight across between its throttle steps. Its data starts at 30% throttle.

What it pulls
BrotherHobby’s own bench test, one line per prop. Drag across the chart to move the throttle; the model above follows.
At 60% with the HQ 3 × 4 × 3: 413 g of thrust, 10.2 A, 245 W, 1.69 g per watt.
On your quad
5.4 : 1
Thrust to weight at full throttle: four motors pull 3,516 g with the HQ 3 × 4 × 3 at 24 V.
At 60% throttle they pull 1,652 g, 2.5 times the quad’s weight.
All-up weight is the quad ready to fly, with its battery and camera. The thrust is the maker’s static bench figure; in the air it is lower.

Inside the motor
A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:
- Bell. 7075 aluminium bell cap, φ19.4 mm. (BrotherHobby product page)
- Stator. 15 × 7 mm with 12 slots, in 0.15 mm Nippon Steel silicon steel. (BrotherHobby product page)
- Magnets. N52H arc magnets, 14 poles. (BrotherHobby product page)
- Bearings. NSK, 5 × 2 × 2.5 mm. (BrotherHobby product page)
- Winding. Copper wire rated to 260 °C; 24 AWG leads, 160 mm. (BrotherHobby product page)
- Base. 7075 aluminium, with four M2 holes on a 12 mm circle. (BrotherHobby product page)
How fast it spins
KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 3100KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.
| Battery | Volts | No-load rpm (KV × V) | Electrical frequency | ESC steps per second |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4S nominal | 14.8 | 45,880 | 5,353 Hz | 32,116 |
| 4S full | 16.8 | 52,080 | 6,076 Hz | 36,456 |
| 6S nominal | 22.2 | 68,820 | 8,029 Hz | 48,174 |
| 6S full | 25.2 | 78,120 | 9,114 Hz | 54,684 |
A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.
About the 3D model
A generic outrunner drawn from BrotherHobby’s published sizes: the 15 × 7 mm stator, 19.4 mm bell, 16.1 mm height, 5 mm shaft, 12 mm mounting circle and 12 teeth and 14 magnets. Anything BrotherHobby doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
