5-inch FPV freestyle motor
BrotherHobby LPD 2306.5
A 5-inch freestyle and long-range motor: 23 × 6.5 mm stator, 33.5 g with leads, and 2,048 g of pull per motor on a 5.1-inch tri-blade on BrotherHobby’s 6S bench (2000KV).
- 5-inch freestyle and long range
- 6S (2000KV) or 5S (2450KV)
- 5.1-inch tri-blade props
The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 2306.5 motor drawn from BrotherHobby’s published sizes, not its exact design. Thrust, current and power are BrotherHobby’s bench figures for the HQ 5.1 × 4.1 × 3 prop at 24 V, read straight across between its throttle steps. Its data starts at 30% throttle.

What it pulls
BrotherHobby’s own bench test, one line per prop. Drag across the chart to move the throttle; the model above follows.
At 60% with the HQ 5.1 × 4.1 × 3: 1,014 g of thrust, 17.6 A, 422 W, 2.40 g per watt.
On your quad
12.6 : 1
Thrust to weight at full throttle: four motors pull 8,192 g with the HQ 5.1 × 4.1 × 3 at 24 V.
At 60% throttle they pull 4,056 g, 6.2 times the quad’s weight.
All-up weight is the quad ready to fly, with its battery and camera. The thrust is the maker’s static bench figure; in the air it is lower.
What you get for $24.99
About 2 kg of pull on 6S
On BrotherHobby’s 24 V bench the 2000KV pulled 2,048 g at full throttle on an HQ 5.1 × 4.1 × 3, drawing 52.9 A.

Wire rated to 260 °C
BrotherHobby rates the winding wire to 260 °C, with DuPont high-temperature enamel, and says it takes long runs at full throttle.
0.15 mm silicon steel
Stator laminations of 0.15 mm Nippon Steel silicon steel, which BrotherHobby says keep eddy-current losses and heating low.
NMB bearings, 7075 shell
Japanese NMB 9 × 4 × 4 mm bearings in a hard-anodised 7075 aluminium bell and base.
What to pair it with
Our reading of BrotherHobby’s numbers, so your build matches what the motor was tested with.
- ESC

Inside the motor
A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:
- Bell. 7075 aluminium bell cap, φ29.7 mm, hard anodised. (BrotherHobby product page, BrotherHobby spec and drawing, BrotherHobby infographic)
- Shaft. 5 mm with an M5 thread, standing 14 mm above the bell. The spec list calls it a hollow titanium-alloy shaft; an infographic on the same page calls it heat-treated alloy steel. (BrotherHobby spec and drawing, BrotherHobby infographic)
- Magnets. N52H arc magnets, 14 poles, which BrotherHobby describes as thicker magnets set at an even air gap. (BrotherHobby product page, BrotherHobby infographic)
- Stator. 23 × 6.5 mm with 12 slots, in 0.15 mm Nippon Steel silicon steel. (BrotherHobby product page, BrotherHobby infographic)
- Bearings. NMB, 9 × 4 × 4 mm. (BrotherHobby product page)
- Base. 7075 aluminium, with four M3 holes on a 16 mm circle and 20 AWG leads 160 mm long. (BrotherHobby product page, BrotherHobby spec and drawing)
How fast it spins
KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 2000KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.
| Battery | Volts | No-load rpm (KV × V) | Electrical frequency | ESC steps per second |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4S nominal | 14.8 | 29,600 | 3,453 Hz | 20,720 |
| 4S full | 16.8 | 33,600 | 3,920 Hz | 23,520 |
| 6S nominal | 22.2 | 44,400 | 5,180 Hz | 31,080 |
| 6S full | 25.2 | 50,400 | 5,880 Hz | 35,280 |
A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.
About the 3D model
A generic outrunner drawn from BrotherHobby’s published sizes: the 23 × 6.5 mm stator, 29.7 mm bell, 18.9 mm height, 5 mm shaft, 16 mm mounting circle and 12 teeth and 14 magnets. Anything BrotherHobby doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
