3.5-inch 6S FPV motor

BetaFPV LAVA 2006

A 22.2 g T-mount 2006 for 6S 3.5-inch quads such as BetaFPV's Pavo35: 1013 g of thrust per motor at full throttle on a Gemfan D90S three-blade on BetaFPV's 24 V bench.

Drawing the 3D model…

The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 2006 motor drawn from BetaFPV’s published sizes, not its exact design. Thrust, current and power are BetaFPV’s bench figures for the GF-D90S-3B prop at 24 V, read straight across between its throttle steps. Its data starts at 30% throttle.

At 60% with the GF-D90S-3B: 403 g of thrust, 7.6 A, 181 W, 2.22 g per watt.

On your quad

6.2 : 1

Thrust to weight at full throttle: four motors pull 4,052 g with the GF-D90S-3B at 24 V.

At 60% throttle they pull 1,612 g, 2.5 times the quad’s weight.

All-up weight is the quad ready to fly, with its battery and camera. The thrust is the maker’s static bench figure; in the air it is lower.

What you get

What to pair it with

Our reading of BetaFPV’s numbers, so your build matches what the motor was tested with.

ESC
BetaFPV pairs it with its F722 35A AIO V2 flight controller. On its bench a motor draws up to 23.49 A at full throttle on 24 V. (BetaFPV product page, BetaFPV drawing and bench table)
Props
BetaFPV recommends Gemfan D90S three-blade props (1.5 mm shaft), saying they keep prop-wash oscillation down; its bench uses them. (BetaFPV product page, BetaFPV drawing and bench table)
Battery
6S, 1050–1400 mAh; BetaFPV suggests its LAVA 6S 1100 mAh pack. (BetaFPV product page)
Frame
Four M2 screws on a 12 mm circle; BetaFPV names its Pavo35. M2×5 and M2×7 screws come in the box. (BetaFPV product page)

Bench data

Redrawn from BetaFPV’s test reports. Thrust is static pull on a bench, more than you get in flight. Power is volts × amps; efficiency is thrust divided by power.

Inside the motor

A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:

How fast it spins

KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 2400KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.

BatteryVoltsNo-load rpm (KV × V)Electrical frequencyESC steps per second
4S nominal14.835,5204,144 Hz24,864
4S full16.840,3204,704 Hz28,224
6S nominal22.253,2806,216 Hz37,296
6S full25.260,4807,056 Hz42,336

A 14-pole rotor has 7 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 7 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 42 times per turn.

About the 3D model

A generic outrunner drawn from BetaFPV’s published sizes: the 20 × 6 mm stator, 25.6 mm bell, 14.9 mm height, 1.5 mm shaft and 12 mm mounting circle. Anything BetaFPV doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
