1S tiny whoop motor

BetaFPV 1102

A light 1S whoop motor for 75 mm frames: 2.79 g, and 46.3 g of thrust per motor with Gemfan 1635 three-blade props on BetaFPV's 4 V bench (22000KV).

  • 75 mm 1S whoops
  • 1S (18000KV, 22000KV) or 2S (14000KV)
  • 40 mm three-blade props
Drawing the 3D model…

The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 1102 motor drawn from BetaFPV’s published sizes, not its exact design. No-load speed is KV × 3.7 V, a nominal pack for this version. BetaFPV’s bench tables for it step by thrust rather than throttle, so they are in the bench data below, not on this readout.

Version

BetaFPV's pick for racing: more thrust than the 18000KV on the same props.

Weight
2.79 g
22000KV; 2.95 g for the 18000KV. BetaFPV's scale photo weighs it with its lead and plug.

What you get for $39.99

  • 2.79 g

BetaFPV weighs the 22000KV at 2.79 g and the 18000KV at 2.95 g per motor.

  • Two KVs for 1S

18000KV for cruising and flight time, 22000KV for racing: 40.6 g against 46.3 g of thrust on the same Gemfan 1635 props at 4 V.

  • Ball bearings

BetaFPV says the ball bearings cut friction and raise efficiency, and calls them crush-resistant and damped.

  • Repairable leads

The lead wires are soldered to a small board on the base, so a wire that breaks off can be soldered back.

  • Balanced

Dynamically balanced, which BetaFPV says cuts vibration.

What to pair it with

Our reading of BetaFPV’s numbers, so your build matches what the motor was tested with.

ESC
BetaFPV pairs it with its F4 1S 5A and F4 1S 12A AIO flight controllers. On its 4 V bench the 22000KV draws up to 6.8 A per motor and the 18000KV 4.8 A. (BetaFPV product page, BetaFPV drawing and bench tables)
Props
BetaFPV recommends 40 mm three-blade props. Its bench also runs the 22000KV on Gemfan 1636 four-blade, 45 mm two- and three-blade, and 2015 two-blade props; with the 2015 it reaches 53.7 g. (BetaFPV product page, BetaFPV drawing and bench tables)
Battery
1S for the 18000KV and 22000KV (BetaFPV suggests its BT2.0 450mAh 1S). The 14000KV was tested on 8 V, a 2S pack. (BetaFPV product page, BetaFPV drawing and bench tables)
Frame
Three M1.4 screws on a 6.6 mm circle; BetaFPV names its Meteor75 frame. A pack of M1.4×4 screws comes in the box. (BetaFPV product page, BetaFPV drawing and bench tables)

Bench data

Redrawn from BetaFPV’s test reports. Thrust is static pull on a bench, more than you get in flight. Power is volts × amps; efficiency is thrust divided by power.

Inside the motor

A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:

  • Bell. Black with a red top on the 2022 version; the 22000KV also comes in blue. The first 18000KV is all black and 15.2 mm tall against 13.6 mm. (BetaFPV product page)
  • Shaft. 1.5 mm, standing 5 mm above the bell. (BetaFPV product page)
  • Bearings. Ball bearings, which BetaFPV calls crush-resistant and damped. (BetaFPV product page)
  • Base. Three M1.4 holes evenly spaced on a 6.6 mm circle. The leads are soldered to a small board on the base. (BetaFPV product page)
  • Leads. Three 28 AWG wires, 37 mm long, ending in a Micro JST 1.25 mm three-pin plug. (BetaFPV product page)

How fast it spins

KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 22000KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.

BatteryVoltsNo-load rpm (KV × V)Electrical frequencyESC steps per second
4S nominal14.8325,60032,560 Hz195,360
4S full16.8369,60036,960 Hz221,760
6S nominal22.2488,40048,840 Hz293,040
6S full25.2554,40055,440 Hz332,640

A 12-pole rotor has 6 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 6 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 36 times per turn.

About the 3D model

A generic outrunner drawn from BetaFPV’s published sizes: the 11 × 2 mm stator, 13.8 mm bell, 8.6 mm height, 1.5 mm shaft and 6.6 mm mounting circle. Anything BetaFPV doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
