2.5–3-inch cinewhoop and freestyle motor
AOS Supernova 1404
A 2.5–3-inch motor designed by AOS RC and built by RCinPower: 10.2 g, and up to 474 g of thrust per motor on RCinPower’s 16 V bench (GF3016R*3).
- Sub-250 g 2.5–3-inch cinewhoops and freestyle quads
- 4S
- 2.5-inch bullnose or 3-inch tri-blade props
The spin is an illustration: the model turns at 1/600 of the no-load speed, and it is a generic 1404 motor drawn from AOS’s published sizes, not its exact design. Thrust, current and power are AOS’s bench figures for the GF3016R*3 prop at 16 V, read straight across between its throttle steps. Its data starts at 25% throttle.

What it pulls
AOS’s own bench test, one line per prop. Drag across the chart to move the throttle; the model above follows.
At 60% with the GF3016R*3: 233 g of thrust, 5.5 A, 88 W, 2.82 g per watt.
On your quad
2.9 : 1
Thrust to weight at full throttle: four motors pull 1,896 g with the GF3016R*3 at 16 V.
At 60% throttle they pull 933 g, 1.4 times the quad’s weight.
All-up weight is the quad ready to fly, with its battery and camera. The thrust is the maker’s static bench figure; in the air it is lower.

Made for 2.5–3-inch props on 4S
AOS RC optimised the 1404 for 2.5-inch bullnose or 3-inch freestyle tri-blade props on 4S, for sub-250 g cinewhoops and freestyle quads.

About 470 g on 4S
On RCinPower’s 16 V bench it pulled 474 g at full throttle on a GF3016R*3, drawing 15.2 A, and 473 g on an HQ TD2.9*2.7*3 at 20.9 A.

AOS RC’s comparison
On a 3-inch prop AOS RC’s chart puts it 25.3% ahead of the Skystars 1404 3800KV and 12.4% ahead of the T-Motor F1404 4600KV in thrust, with about 30% more torque at 12,500 rpm than either.

Thicker flux ring
AOS RC credits a thicker flux ring and a tuned magnet overhang for the extra torque, which it says helps with the heavier bullnose props on cinewhoops.

Throttle expo suggested
AOS RC suggests Betaflight throttle MID 0 and EXPO 0.20 to start, for finer control at low throttle.

- Props
- AOS RC built it for 2.5-inch bullnose or 3-inch tri-blade props. At 16 V full throttle RCinPower measured 474 g on the GF3016R*3 and 473 g on the HQ TD2.9*2.7*3; at 12 V a GF4024R*2 two-blade pulled 454 g. (AOS RC design page, RCinPower datasheet)
- Battery
- 4S; rated 3S–4S. (AOS RC design page, RCinPower datasheet)

Bench data
Redrawn from AOS’s test reports. Thrust is static pull on a bench, more than you get in flight. Power is volts × amps; efficiency is thrust divided by power.

Inside the motor
A brushless outrunner: the coils stand still in the middle and the magnets spin around them. From the top down:
- Design. Designed by AOS RC and made by RCinPower. (AOS RC design page)
- Bell. AOS RC says a thicker flux ring and a tuned magnet overhang give it its extra torque. (AOS RC design page)
- Prop mount. A 1.5 mm shaft, with four M2 holes in the top of the bell, 5 mm apart. (RCinPower datasheet)
How fast it spins
KV is the motor’s no-load speed per volt. With nothing on the shaft, the 4000KV version reaches about these speeds; a prop loads the motor and brings it down, typically to around 70–75% of these figures at full throttle.
| Battery | Volts | No-load rpm (KV × V) | Electrical frequency | ESC steps per second |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4S nominal | 14.8 | 59,200 | 5,920 Hz | 35,520 |
| 4S full | 16.8 | 67,200 | 6,720 Hz | 40,320 |
| 6S nominal | 22.2 | 88,800 | 8,880 Hz | 53,280 |
| 6S full | 25.2 | 100,800 | 10,080 Hz | 60,480 |
A 12-pole rotor has 6 pole pairs, so every turn of the shaft is 6 electrical cycles, and a six-step ESC switches the phases 36 times per turn.
About the 3D model
A generic outrunner drawn from AOS’s published sizes: the 14 × 4.5 mm stator, 18.75 mm bell, 13.2 mm height, 1.5 mm shaft, 9 mm mounting circle and 9 teeth and 12 magnets. Anything AOS doesn’t publish is typical for a motor this size, and the bell’s spoked top, the base and the inside are a generic design, not this motor’s. The colours are read off the maker’s product photos. There are no logos or markings: it is our drawing, not the maker’s.
